Optic Question and range report...
I went out and shot my primary arms m3 clone that i picked up last week. Sight looks good, shoots well and holds zero. This was my first red dot and what did I learn? Red dots may not be for me. I can shoot better with the iron sights than with a red dot. So my question is, does anyone know of a magnified optic that is well built, relatively inexpensive (cant afford the ACOG) and will hold up well on a 16'' carbine? I need more precision than what a red dot or my iron sights have to offer...

There is the world of 1-4x and 1-6 and now 1-8x scopes. But from what I gather, the inexpensive 1-4x scopes don't give the same experience that a quality 1-4x scope would give.

On one of my tac rifles, I use a 1x/2x Red-Dot by A1optic. They are inexpensive, and I've had nothing but great luck with them. This is my 3rd one. I also have a 6-24x50mm for one of my hunting rifles and a 50mm red-dot for another rifle. But I like the 1x/2x because it's a red-dot, but has 2x magnification IF YOU WANT IT. Meaning, it has a screw on 2x lens. You can leave it on, or take it off and use it as a regular 1x red-dot. It's a 42mm red-dot. The owner of the company sells only through thehuntersmall.com ; although, the main website for the products is A1optic.com ; also, he (Dennis) does sometimes sell some of the scopes on ebay. But most at thehuntersmall.com . He also has some other scopes by barska and some others, but I really like the A1optic scopes. I have some high dollar optics on some of my hunting rifles, but the A1optic I have on my 7mm mag is rock solid and I use it a good portion of the time. Go to the a1optic.com sight and look at their stuff. I'm impressed with them. Especially for the price.

thanks for the feed back! I went to swfa and found a bunch of options all in the same price range. One final question and try not to laugh...has anyone used NC Star? They sell them on that website and I have seen them at the gunshow. Is it similar in quality to say the millett or is it just more cheapo overseas stuff...

NCStar?
No.
I am sure that you can find a plethora of people on other sites that love them, but we tend to focus on a more serious segment of the market that tends to break cheap optics like pinatas on Cinco de Mayo.

Check out the new Burris 1-4x Tac30, it's the least expensive variable I'd recommend: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct...tnumber=994114
It's also the lightest at appx 13oz (not the 17oz listed).

checkout the weaver 1-3x20mm...pretty decent for the price. Make no mistake it is NOT a Trijicon, but its a good entry level scope.
