The hunt for a G19

I have spent all day long trying to track down a Gen 3 RTF2 Glock 19 in my area. I have found a few Gen 4 19s and have decided that if I want one asap, I will have to settle for the Gen 4 19. My question is have they finally fixed the dang thing? What spring are they shipping them with now? Should I just hold out for a Gen 3 rtf2? I do not want to have to trade it or send it into Glock or anything. Any first hand input you have is appreciated. I do not want to waste $500 on a pos pistol. Are these Gen 4 19 problems as frequent in the Gen 4 23?

not too long ago i called 8 gun shops and found 1 g19 gen 3. everyone else told me glock wasnt making the gen 3s anymore. i think they said that just to sell a gen 4 pistol. but i did have a tough time finding any glock 17 or 19s. id say hold out for what you want or it will nag you.
or buy a regular gen 3 g19 and stipple it yourself. there is a ton of info on here for stippling

the current spring is 4... no 100% sure if with this spring the problem is fixed... "it should" but Idk..

does any one know if the problem is gone with the spring 4?.

It seems that lower powered ammo, coupled with the heavier 03 spring was causing most of the problems. Glockmeister had 19's in Gen 3 RTF2, 19C's as well as some remaining OD frames in 19 and 17. Here is a link to the site: http://www.glockmeister.com/9-mm/products/4/

From what I understand, the RTF2's will be limited to LE only. Unfortunately I don't remember where I read that though.

I recently bought a Gen4 G19 (brand new for $485) and it has the 03 spring. I went to the range and fire over 250 rounds of 124g ammo and not a single issue.

Glockmeister sells Glock Factory RTF2 stripped frames.

You can buy a Glock 19 complete slide assembly (with internals), and Glock 19 RTF2 complete frame assembly (with internals) from them.

Don't crap around with full configurations if you can't find what you want.

BTW: Glock has no plans to stop producing Gen3 pistols.

Don't get the RTF2 if you plan on carrying it concealed. The texture is just short of a cheese grater, and will do the same to your skin and shirt. I would know, I sold mine for the Gen4. Besides, if you are worried about the recoil sping, Glockmeister makes a captured unit that will convert it back to a Gen3 spring. I have one and it functions great.

Well I finally took my Gen 4 G19 (with 04 Spring) out to the range along with my G19 RTF2 both performed flawless with WWB... You may want to try a GSSF dealer to obtain a G19 RTF2 as they serve LEOs... Ed's Public Safety in Georgia will ship to your local FFL and I have heard the transaction is very smooth...

This is a wise decision. Gen4 Glock 19, Glockmeister 17/19lbs single captioned spring is money, I have them in my 3 Gen4 Glock 17's. Stainless steel, don't bother with Tungsten.

Glockmeister is a good company.

But if you're set on RTF2 frames, go with my earlier recommendation.

Yea I just got back from Wal Mart and compared 40 prices to 9mm prices. One thing is for certain, I will be getting the 9mm. I do not carry a pistol on my hip so the RTF2 is not a problem for me. However I see how it would hurt. I think I am just going to roll the dice and get the Gen 4 19. Wish me luck! You know I never thought the day would come that I would ever be weary about buying a Glock due to reliability issues. Thanks for all the input. I know everyone says they have problems shooting the 115 grain ammo or even WWB, but the truth is this is prob what I will feed the 19. Hope it goes well.

I don't think you'll have any issues with the Gen 4, been seeing more and more positive reviews lately, good luck!!!

A quick search found 3 G29 RTF2s on gunbroker.com. That's where I picked up my last one, I now have two. BTW, I carry mine IWB without a t-shirt and have no issues. All it takes is a little 600 gr sandpaper and a little time to slowly smooth the grip to make it more comfortable. In fact, I sold a Gen 4 G19 that gave me no issues through a few thousands rounds because to me the RTF2 is the best G19 Glock has ever produced. YMMV.

A friend and I just bought Gen4 G19s. His had a Failure to feed in his first mag which was caused by a knurled up casing. We haven't had these guns for very long but have about 600 rounds through each with no malfunctions.

We have shot mostly WWB, but have mixed in some Federal and Remington target ammo.

These guns were cleaned and lubed once.

Both have 04 springs and RCYXXX SNs.

IMO you can buy with no worries.

Just picked up a very lightly used Gen 4 G19 with the number 3 spring. Seems to shoot 124 duty loads without fail, but chokes a couple of times every hundred rounds on WWB. Also a couple of FTE's with my 147gr over 3.2 Titegroup loads which are admittedly light loads. I like the Gen4 better than my 2, but i'm not interested in running duty loads for range work and plinking.

My understanding is that changing springs will cycle the softer loads more reliably, is that correct?
