I will try to describe what all the parts do in some sense of order.
All our action parts (except the RAM) revolve around our sear. If you were to drop in just our sear, you would find that the resulting pull would be around 4lbs. Because of the geometry of the sear, you would also find that the striker release point is toward the rear of the trigger stroke. This reduces the over travel and trigger reset from when the trigger is fully to the rear, and then released to the sear/trigger engagement point.
As a result, pre travel or take up increases for the first shot.
With the factory striker block contour, this pre travel can be rough and grating. Our USB kit smoothes out the roughness.
For some, a 4 lb pull is too light. So our dcaek adds stronger springs to increase the pull weight to about 5 lbs. This seems to suit most who utilize the pistol for defense or carry.
On the flip side, some who shoot competitively like a lighter than 4lb pull weight. So our competition aek has springs to reduce the trigger pull down below 3 lbs.
In either the dcaek or the comp aek, the sear and usb are the same, just different springs for the desired affect.
The RAM is a separate part which acts to pull the trigger bar back beneath the sear cam lobe with more authority or snap. It allows the shooter to feel the point at which the trigger is set to fire as you release the trigger once the gun has fired (and the trigger is still rearward). It also serves a secondary function. That is to ensure the gun can be made to fire should the trigger return spring break. This is a feature that is more important to LE. Should the trigger return spring break, you can push the trigger forward manually and the RAM will position the trigger loop beneath the sear so the gun can fire by pressing the
trigger again. This is the failsafe mode, and while it is slower than if the trigger return spring was still functioning, it will still allow an officer to return fire regardless of the gun's orientation.
I hope this helps!
