Adcor Defense?

Never heard of this company before today, a friend referred me to this video and told me that the company was in our neck of the woods and I thought the system looked interesting. As I understood it they use a mini gas tube between the barrel and the piston in place of a traditional gas block. Not sure how I feel about it, I've never cared for piston guns nor owned one but supposedly this system eliminates the tilt issue, and forward charging handle looks interesting. Not sure if I want to pick up the 20 inch incarnation as my next AR purchase or wait and build off one of the new vltor lowers and a VIS. Anyone have any thoughts?

Next there will be a ferris wheel between the piston and barrel.

All kidding aside why would you spend your money on an untested setup?

I would shoot one but only if they paid me for my time and ammo. Do yourself a favor and don't pay to be a beta tester for companies. Stick to known quality products and parts that are always going to be around. What are you going to do if in say 5 years that company is out of business and you need a part?

Valid points, I've never liked the idea of a piston gun but this looked as if it might be an interesting toy, and I like to buy things locally, but I guess waiting to build off an vltor lower would probably be the smarter choice in this case.

If all you're looking to buy is a 'toy' then buy whatever you want. When I give out advice I do it in the frame of mind the person is using it for HD/SD/duty/training purposes.

My SR-15 will continue to fill those roles for me for the foreseeable future But I do like to take different guns to classes sometimes, and I didn't think about parts availability. That thing definitely appears to have a TON of proprietary crap attached to it, probably not easily replaced. Thanks for making me think straight

Well for one im not a big fan of the whole piston ar why fix something if its not broken. Two the operation rod thats connected to the bcg seems like a weak point, maybe its just me. And it would have to go threw some alot more testing then what the controlled testing showed for me to even consider thinking about getting their upper.

I'm pretty sure that I read a write up in a gun magazine and the writer said that the ADCOR Bear was bad ass. What's the problem?

The magazine cover in the background is the Jan. 31st issue. Fortier thought it was innovative, and didn't have any problems with it.

Was the one where they ran a whooping 100 rounds of different ammo in the gun and only had 10 Shooter induced malfunctions? If so it was in last months Bad Ass Weapons for Mall Ninjas.

I cruise Gunbroker from time to time looking for FAL and AR receivers marked "Armscor, Baltimore MD."

I would simply like to get and Adcor lower marked 'Baltimore MD'.

I don't know anything about the BEAR upper but I think it is cool that an old industrial town in a very 'blue' state is making AR's - especially in good ol' "Bodymore, Murderland."
