Colt HBAR Elite, how to remove tube?

I have an HBAR Elite, the super heavy 24 inch varmint barrel. It has the metal round handguard. Strap wrench has been tried as well as heat. How does a brother get that removed? Any tips or secrets that are not obvious.

Gas block removed and gas tube removed, heavy elbow grease, no luck. ideas?

FYI, I have a 18inch WOA SPR barrel and DD12.0 coming to replace it.

I am not completely familiar with the free float hand guard on your rifle. I do not remember them having a jamb nut. A receiver vise block and strap wrench is all I have ever used.

You have already tried heat so the only element left before drastic measures is freezing.

If it has a jamb nut then you could try freezing and two strap wrenches working the jamb nut and hand guard in opposite directions.

I hope you find out on this thread because I've been scratching my head on the same thing. Everything else is fairly obvious, but not that forearm.

Have you tried the old standbys; soak the threads for a few days/couple of weeks with a penetrating oil such as Kroil. Then clamp the upper in a fixture, and heat the handguard up with a torch. Not too hot, but enough to expand it a bit. Then slap on the strap wrench and go.

If all else fails, cutting the back end of the tube in a milling machine is and option. An expensive, have to be careful or you'll knarf the upper, option.

A strap wrench with a pipe over the handle for added leverage should do it.
If not get a longer pipe for more leverage...
If your gonna trash it 460's or a good old Rigid pipe wrench will do.

From what I can see there is no jam nut. This thing is on there tight. Unfortunately it is so damn long, it won't fit in my freezer.

I have never done it before, but you could try two strap wrenches going in the same direction, like a T handle. I do not know if that would give you added leverage, but might be worth a try. As others have written, try Kroil or some other form of penetrating oil.

This was my thought too. A pipe wrench, I have no doubt, would do it, but it will cause minor damage.

I know you will not like to hear this, but it is just threaded on, nothing else. The forearm is the barrel nut on this rifle, simple effective. I used a pair of strap wrenches on mine...

I am looking for a decent barrel for one of my two 6724's... what condition and what do you plan for the take off? Approximate round count?

Mint condition, probably 200 rounds, max. Bought to Prairie dog hunt, that didn't happen. Shoots lights out. Was just going to keep for a rainy day. PM me if you want to make an offer.
