New AR guy here!!

Hey guys as stated I'm new to the commercial AR but been around guns all my life be it my childhood or my military experience... Finally decided to buy something not as simple as a hunting rifle but something I could truly make my own.. I ran into a deal for a Bushmaster xm15 and I was doing what i thought was my best to customize properly... I added rails, a tact light, and a foregrip but soon realized the whole concept of this whole ounces equal pounds bit I've been hearing.. Anyways just hear to learn and get opinions.. Thanks for listening any advice is appreciated

Welcome, but this isn't the place for intros, that's sticky'd up top.

Right now just read, then read some more, then after all that- yeah, read some more. And after that, if you have any questions, use the search function because it's probably something we've hashed over a thousand times.

There's a lot to learn on here, trust me.

Before you spend more money on the Bushamster use the ORANGE search button at top and read about them. There is ALOT of Bushy info. Then decide if you want to keep spending money on it.

It would be very wise to make some of the changes that are recommended.

Indeed ! I have done so for both of my BMs and now one has a BCM upper and the other has some (very much) needed upgrades and I am "all the wiser" for it.
Do as suggested.
