Upper Suggestions

What is a quality upper for under 500$ I am looking at DPMS and RRA. Any suggestions?

Please use the search forum and read the M4 chart threads. I would not consider a RRA or DPMS a quality upper. I would suggest looking at a BCM, Daniel Defense, or LMT. All three of these uppers can be had for around $550 which includes a BCG and charging handle.

to be honest it really depends on what you are looking to do. If you are looking for just a weekend gun to plink at the range with, nothing too high speed, then RRA and DPMS would be fine. But, if you are looking to take courses and train pretty hard, then as everyone on here loves to point out in every single post, you get what you pay for. Everyone in these forums has a hard on for BCM. I like LWRC and Daniel Defense, but that is just a personal preference. My first upper was a STAG and it worked flawlessly. If you aren't LE or Mil, and don't plan on really running your gun hard or relying on it to save your life, then I really wouldn't spend the money on one of the companies I listed above.

I kind of look at it like motorcycle riding. If I'm not racing, but still want something to have fun with, I'm probably better off spending 6k on an R6 than 30k on the Ducati Desmo.... fwiw

The budget argument always fails. Top of the line quality can be had for equal or lesser price than those common commercial brands.

I can see this closing fast... But for around $500 you might find a DPMS or Stag, but...

When you figure $400 for BCM upper receiver assembly, $140 for BCM/LMT BCG, $20 for CH, $20 for handguards and around $50 for a basic rear sight or used carry handle.

So that makes it around $630 for a real quality piece.

So your last thread where you asked damn near the exact same question gets locked, and you just start a new one asking about the same crappy companies? I smell a troll, but I'll bite.

Wait for it to come back in stock, buy it with the BCM bolt, an MBUS rear sight, and a MOE handguard, stick in on a lower and shoot the hell out of it.
