to be honest it really depends on what you are looking to do. If you are looking for just a weekend gun to plink at the range with, nothing too high speed, then RRA and DPMS would be fine. But, if you are looking to take courses and train pretty hard, then as everyone on here loves to point out in every single post, you get what you pay for. Everyone in these forums has a hard on for BCM. I like LWRC and Daniel Defense, but that is just a personal preference. My first upper was a STAG and it worked flawlessly. If you aren't LE or Mil, and don't plan on really running your gun hard or relying on it to save your life, then I really wouldn't spend the money on one of the companies I listed above.
I kind of look at it like motorcycle riding. If I'm not racing, but still want something to have fun with, I'm probably better off spending 6k on an R6 than 30k on the Ducati Desmo.... fwiw
