Upper and Lower Cost Less Than Complete Gun

This morning I was at one of the area gun shops. I was checking prices on M-4 and AR-15 A4 style guns. Their prices on a Rock River carbines was about $975 to $1095.

While looking I notice that they had a few RRA carbine and standard complete lowers for $250 and $275, and the uppers ran $495 w/out the carry handle. I didn't finish college, but the two together would be $770. That was $205.00 cheaper than a complete gun.

Would there be ANY problems with buying the two halves as aposed to buying a complete gun, for example fit or so on?

You'd be a fool to pay the price for the complete gun. What that premium buys you is the "trouble" someone at RRA went through attaching a lower to an upper.

Pop two pins and save the $200+.

RRA vs. (Insert brand here) would be the only issue. Some people complain about RRA, but I wouldn't know. Never owned one myself.

Is there not also a federal tax of all complete firearms?

The reason that uppers and lowers are cheaper than a complete weapon is mainly because there is no 11% FET collected.

There is nothing wrong with buying an upper and lower (seperate) and putting them together.

The prices you listed for the complete RRA weapons makes me cry. All I can say is make sure to read this: http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=6642

Wow.

Never really looked at the RRA column before now.

Not pretty.

Did the upper come with a BCG? If not, add another $130. Then buy a carry handle or BUIS for another $75 to $100+. Might be cheaper to buy the complete rifle.

Generally all RRA uppers come complete with BCG and CH.
