AK47 & Sling options for a lefty

Ok so I am getting frustrated.

I want to mount a sling on my SGL21 and I am lefty so I have an instant problem.

I purchased a Blue force Gear Universal Wire loop to mount forward on the rifle and thread through/between gas tube and barrel. That is good to go. Simple but perfect solution.

The problem is mounting the sling to the buttstock. I purchased a buttstock band that is for an AR15 A2 http://www.blueforcegear.com/product...Buttstock.html thinking that I could sinch it down tight enough and run part of it through the sling point attachment. No go. It just doesn't work, plus the sling point attachment faces the wrong way (foward and back not up and down) so securing the thing is a not going to work. No big deal. It gives me an excuse to build a full size AR with an A2 stock. Builds have been started with less. I have already started to order parts!

I have a Warsaw Pact length polymer stock from K-VAR. If it was wood I would not be having this problem.

Options?

Is the material close to the stock tang on the buttstock thick enough to support installing an AK sling point attachment? I know the stocks are built like a chocolate Easter Bunny so they are not solid.

Perhaps I need to order the Blue Force Universal loop and go that way? Not what I realy wanted to do but it may be my only choice.

I was thinking about switching the sling point attachment to the direct opposite side of the current one on the other side of the stock. Do you think this would work? I dont want to jack my stock up if it is a hopeless cause? I removed the buttplate and it looks like it might work.
Anyone else attempted this before?

Personally I think the AK is perfect for us left handed shooters with this one exception.

You might consider one of the stock sling points that Uncle Mike's sells for polymer hunting gun stocks.....you might need to trim the screw to nock some of the length off of it.

Then you could run a sling swivel/loop, also available from Uncle Mikes, for your sling.

The other thing would be to loop some para cord around the wrist of the stock and attach the sling that way. Certainly less invasive.

I am also running a kvar stock set and shoot lefty.

I was thinking about using the BFG A1/ A2 buttstock adapter which pits the attachment point at the top of the stock, I wonder if it would have similar issues:

http://www.blueforcegear.com/product...k-Adapter.html

I had not considered the issue is with the sling attachment point on the buttstock which will not allow one of these strap style buttock adapters to run through it.

I wonder if a flush cup bedded into the stock with acraglass or similar would be strong enough (flush cup like the last one on this link)
http://www.grovtec.com/products_swivel_pairs.php

I don't know the thickness of the buttstock, hopefully somebody else knows.

There are also sling attachment options from echo93 which place the attachment point closer to the rear of the receiver. They seem more suited for a single point however.

God Bless the internet.

I remembered a sling plate thingymabob for the Draco pistols.

After some searches I founds this:

For $20 plus $5 in shipping I am giving it a try. If it does not work I can take it off. If it works I am golden.

[http://www.echo93.com/#!products is where I found it.

Looks like it has some potential.

I am left-handed and use an OSOE 550 para chord sling adapter with a girth hitch for standard stocks and a prusik knot on wire folders.

This works really well. Easy install and so far rock solid. It is also reversable for you right handed freaks!
Like the AK it is caveman simple and built to last.
It does not interfear with my grip and does not get in the way in any fashion.

I may replace the mash hook with another Blue Force Universal wire adapter or some para cord. Yeah I know a rifle is a tool to be used but this should reduce/emliminate the rattle from the mash hook and reduce the chances of rubbing the finish on the rifle.

This is the EASY Button for those needing a lefty setup for an AK IMHO.

Looks good

Are you running the short or long universal loop on the front?

Short. I am probably going to get the long one and then mount it forward and use the short on on the back.
I saw one a 5280 Armory last week so I think I'll drop in tomorrow and pick one up.

I'm a fan of taking the factory swivel off the bottom and reattaching at the top/side of the rear.
