What do you think about this custom rifle?

I may be looking to buy the below custom rifle for $950. Is this a good deal?

Colt A3 Flat Top Upper 1:7 Twist Barrel Chrome Lined Authentic Colt BCG..A2 Front Site..Spikes Tactical Colorfill Lower with RRA LPK..Magpul CTR MilSpec Stock..Magpul Trigger Guard..Pistol Grip..XTM RailCovers..Zero Rounds fired thru.

I am looking at this or a brand new Daniel Defense DDM4 V1 for $1150.

Thanks for the advice, its a big purchase for me and wanted to ask some folks with more experience than me.

XTM panels, so it comes with a rail? WHat kind? Sounds good to me though at $950 with that upper, even without the rail.

Not a deal in my opinion. I have seen factory Colt AR 6920's for slightly more than that.

Without any doubt, buy the Daniel Defense. You'll have this rifle a long time and the small price difference won't mean much a year from now.

I've yet to hear of a single person that was truly unhappy with a Daniel Defense rifle.

then it's just an OK deal.

But wait, it's got the colorfill lower! i kid, I kid.

Like others said, I'd go with the DD or a stock new Colt.

In your situation I would go with the DD.

I don't mind using or owning a rifle built from parts as long as I built it or someone I trust built it. Joe blow selling a Franken-gun is a no go for me.

You won't be disappointed. DD makes some of the better factory rifles out there. I'm a fan of the lower and it's slightly flared mag well. Good shootin'.

I'd say go DD.

I won't own a gun that I didn't put together myself or didn't come from a reputable factory.

I've been building AR's for around 15 to 16 years now and in the process have had to fix many, many mistakes made by folks who treat AR builds like an overgrown tinkertoy set.

This usually ends up costing the new owners more money down the line as they have to replace improperly fitted parts, lost parts that come off (seen an improperly attached flash hider or two launch downrange on other folks guns) etc. So that $950 will probably end up costing you more in the long run.

I agree with the other posters. Also would like to add BCM to the mix.

I don’t think it’s that good of a deal. I would go with the Daniel Defense or a Colt 9620.

Out of curiosity where do you see the DDM4 for $1150? I own a V1, thinking about getting a second one w/ a LW barrel as a backup.

I just bought a DDM4v4, and I love it to death. I don't think I could have made a better decision. I paid 1175+tax=1240 OTD. And every time I pull the trigger I have a huge on my face
