Value of a pre ban 6520 box paper etc...

I have a in very good condition 6520 pre ban with box papers original 20rd magazines plus 3 brand new pre ban Colt 30rd mags. Can someone give me a rough estimate as to what the value of it is? There is one (only one) new on gunbroker for $1999 but it's been there awhile. So I am unable to get a figure as I have not seen any for sale. Info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It is worth what someone is willing to pay you for it.

Put it on the EE for a little less the the one on GB and see if you get any hits.

I assume there is a market. For our less fortunate brothers.

Exclamation

There is a NYS gunboard, but I can't remember the url - a Scroogle search should reveal it. You can DEFINITELY get a fair price for it in NY or CA!

There is one in the EE I believe:
http://m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=82989
Unless thats not a 6520, they look the same to me.
I actually want one right now, but I have heard them going for as little as 700, so I might hold out... plus, I never plan on living in a ban state, so id hate to take away a rifle that someone less fortunate could put to good use.
ill probably just buy a BCM lightweight A4 carbine upper and a stag lower when I feel like making my 3rd AR that I've been planning.

I just bought a brand new 6520 from CDNN for $899 in February. It has the M4 furniture on it too.

Pre ban AR

Pre ban AR's are around that price range in ban compliant states like NY, NJ, MA,CA etc....

$2k is way high even for a ban state. If your rifle is unfired, NIB, and has the box and paperwork a Colt collector might pay $1,600ish. I see pre ban Colts go for under $1,200 all the time in NY.

NIB with pushpin lower is $1600.

Adjust your price downward if it is not new and can't use a pushpin.

I'd put it on gunbroker with a 14 day auction and start it off with a one dollar auction.

If it can't take a pushpin, then I wouldn't expect to get above $1100.

Thank you that gives me a rough idea. I was thinking $1200 with all the original packaging and 3 new 30 rd Colt pre ban mags. It is in very good condition. Shot very little.

FYI, Pre-ban is irrelevant in California. The only thing that matters is detachable mag vs. "evil features". The date of manufacture does not matter.

Careful.

Pre-ban really has no meaning in states like CA and NJ. In NJ, for example, no rifles can have any evil features - they are banned outright, no grandfathering.

"Pre-ban" is really only relevent to NY, CT, and MA.

CT is somewhat unique vs. NY and MA - because the first CT AWB specifically banned "Colt AR-15" and "Colt AR-15 Sporter" by name.

So, depending on how the 6520 is marked (OP I would like to see a pic if possible), it may only have relevence to NY or MA.

It's probably worth around $1200-1500 here in MA.

Lots of us are more interested in pre-ban lowers because we can then put any upper we want on it. Pre-ban lowers run $650-800.
