Looks nice.
Quick question: Do you think you could install one of the Noveske QD mounts with the float tube and gas block already in place? Kind of slide it in?

Thanks, will do.
Will have to get my BUIS installed first, but that will be a few weeks away as I have more funds.

I tried, but had to remove it in the end. I couldn't get it past the low profile gas block. The rings that poke through the rail make it too thick to pass the gas block. Once installed it looks thin though. Nice thing with this rail is that it can be removed in about 15 seconds with an allen wrench (two screws), so it's not a big deal to do so.
I also had trouble with the front one since I couldn't reach the location with my fingers. Had to use tools to reach inside and place that one.

This is quite the setup you have here. I was just discussing the new "troy .308" forends with a buddy. I have Troy/VTAC rails on a couple M4s and couldnt be more pleased! I have used one at work for a while and been very impressed with its performance under harse use. I think those rails will grow on you fast, I like the no BS approach they promote when building on them. No more rails than are needs, yet you can place rails ANYWHERE your imagination can think of!
Good luck with the rest of the build, I look forward to more pics as you make some more progress.

No but I can give it a try tonight on the digital bath scale. Not sure if it's accurate enough.

txbonds,
I have pretty much the same setup although I made the mistake of putting a DPMS rifle length rail on mine, and a UBR stock. Even with only a standard 16" barrel its tipping the scales at 10lbs unloaded! I'm considering removing the UBR stock and selling it, or even selling the entire rifle. I just hate how damned heavy it is. How does yours feel?

That's the problem with the large AR platforms.. bigger bullets.. more pressure.. bigger/thicker parts...more weight. If you need light, stick with the AR15 platform in a more stout caliber like the 6.8 for hunting or out to 400/500yds. I prefer balance to weight. YMMV

Yeah, I tried shooting it offhand with a full 20 rounds in the PMAG and I couldn't hold it up for longer than 10 seconds. Guess it's a good thing I'm starting P90X lol! I wonder if the OP's setup is any lighter. I bet that Troy rail is wayy better than the DPMS garbage I have. I'm pretty sure my rail weighs 1lb 8 oz or something stupid like that... I would post pics but I'm dangerously getting close to hijacking this thread.
to the OP:
It is a nice build for sure though! looks better than mine. Can't wait to find out what the weight is on it though.

Did you ever get a weight on it?
