New Glock tomorrow
I'm about to use my GSSF coupon which entitles me 1 Glock per year at LEO pricing. My local gun shop has an RTF2 G19 with vertical serrations which I already own 2 of. These are my favorite Glock's and getting harder to come by. However I don't have a G26 yet. The local gun shop has either a Gen3 or Gen4 G26 for the same price. Is there any reason to not own a G26? I have no problem concealing a G19 with my daily attire so this point is moot. But the G26 seems to be calling my name.

Many will tell you that a 19 is better for CCW than a 26. I own both, and can say that the 26 conceals better than the 19 in every aspect except AIWB. The shorter grip combined with a forward canted holster conceals very well. And with 10-13rds in one magazine, you should have no problem defending yourself if you do your part.

Go with the 26! You already have two 19s. You'll love the versatility of the smaller pistol. Many decide that they no long need to make the 19 their EDC.
I do the G23/27 combo and find myself carrying the 27 most often. We have very high temps here and it's just plain easy to put the little 27 AIWB under a T-shirt and shorts. Keep a high cap mag in your offside pocket and it's a tough package to beat.

My first handgun was a 26. I never had any issues with it. However, the only reason I bought it instead of a 19 then was because it was 2002. A few years ago I let the 26 go and replaced it with a 19. I carry the 26 just as I carry the 19 now strong side IWB holster. The 19 conceals as well and is easier/faster/more secure on the draw. If it were not for the AWB I would have likely never owned a 26 at all. They are still great guns.

I'd recommend using a proper magazine pouch instead. If you ever do need to get to that spare mag in a hurry you'll be really happy you were using the proper equipment rather than trying to get a magazine out of a pocket, possibly in a bad position where it won't come out, or pulling out a lint infested mag.
I own both the G19 and G26, both are Gen 3, the G26 is a fantastic size for very discreet carry. When carrying the G26 I use either a G19 or G17 magazine as my spare for a few more rounds.

Try practicing reloads from a belt mounted position and from a pocket pouch and tell me which one's easier and faster.

I think you should tell me the name of your local gun shop so I can snag that G19RTF2 (been looking for one to no avail for a while), or trade me one of yours for a G34 with Warren/Sevigny's.

Thanks for the input. I ended up with the RTF G19 only because they are becoming harder to find. I'll pick up a G26 later. Now my dilemma becomes 3rd Gen or 4th Gen.

I have a late manufacture 3rd gen and it's great. To be safe, I'd go for an early manufacture gen 3

Irish, I dont wear a belt off duty, so carrying a mag pouch there is not an option. I wear 5.11 shorts and pants and keep a spare (higher capacity) magazine in the convenient mag pocket on my off side. The base of the mag protrudes just enough for a firm grip and a speedy draw. Having practiced this type of reload several thousand times, I'm confident it's at least as fast as my on-duty mag pouches and reloads. There might be some lint, but Glocks eat that stuff for breakfast.

What's the big deal about wearing a belt? It really is a bunch better to have a mag on your belt in a pouch than fishing in a pocket, and then there is the issue of lint or some crap in your pocket fouling the mag.

I have three G19 RTF2s for the same reason!
Recently traded a Kahr for a Gen4 G26 (my wife has small hands so it fits her better) and haven't had any issues with it but it's only shot a little over 500 rounds.

90% of the time a Glock rides AIWB, just to the right of center line. A G27 just went on a long walk around town with me and two dogs. It's not realistic to wear a belt with shorts in the summer heat most days. Too hot and uncomfortable. And why, when the AIWB carry is just as secure, maybe more so than belt carry, easier to keep your weapon concealed without worrying about your cover garment riding up over the grip, and easier to retain in the event of a scuffle?
Many here will agree that on the hottest of days, wearing ONE cover garment is all that is practical, and a T-shirt rides over my G27 or 23 perfectly. The offside "pocket" carry of the spare mag has never been an issue. I train, and then train more and have shot from this method during numerous courses and competitions. As the range master for my agency I advocate my guys practicing with their off duty carry piece and carry method, and I drill on it too... Relentlessly. I may not be Miculek fast, but I'm easily as fast with my off duty setup as I am using my duty pistol and mag pouches. And anyone making a tac reload should be seeking available cover anyway, not hanging their ass out in the wind while reloading. Doesn't matter the carry method.

Wise choice! I love the RTF2 frames... I wish I could buy a few non gilled RTF2 17's.

I sent my 3rd Gen G17's to tggincorporated.com for stippling. and remove the damn finger grooves. I would also have like a few RTF2 G17's if I could find any with vertical serrations, not sure if any were ever released. I'll send a Gen3 G26 to tgginc as well for stippling. Daryl Bolke did an article about this guy's work in a Surefire mag a few issues ago.
