Upper Differences ?

I am about to order an upper but I'm not sure which one to get. Wondered if some of you might want to weigh in & help me out.

I'm torn between these 3 Upper recievers

1. Used Colt M4 Upper $115
2. New WOA upper w/ M4 cut $110
3. New CMT Upper w/ M4 cut $100

Any reason I should or should not pick any of the 3?

Thanks.

I think you should go with #1 and have Steve build a complete upper out of it when you buy it from him. Maybe even get it Gunkoted to match the barrel or something...

There is nothing wrong with any of those... you really are up against the decision to pick the brand you like -- sort of like Ford, Chevy or Dodge.

I think -- if you are getting the used Colt receiver from ADCO -- that the idea to use it and have Steve do the GunKoat refinish. Having the Colt will honestly give you the most "braggin rights".

137% of all receivers are out of spec.

All three choices listed are made by CMT so buy on price and condition.

Tally (the Capn) likes to tell everyone about the differences. Probably the biggest would be the anodization. FWIW, the Daniels Defense upper comes highly reccomended at 156 dollars.

How'd we all know about this used Colt receiver from ADCO?

Nitrox-

So what you are saying is, for that every 8 receivers sold, almost 11 are not up to par? Damn!

What I'm saying is that if it seems hard to believe it might just be.

One of the great mysteries... but true.

Another one is that everything that was ever lost, anywhere in the world, ends up in Oregon... in someone's front yard.

Well...

I ended up going with the "Kool-Aid" route as some might say. I have 4 AR's and none of them have a Colt anything so I just ordered a Colt M-16 Carrier & the M4 Upper.

If nothing else it will be an excuse to try to refinish some AR stuff.

Thanks for the imput people.

Have you ever been to the Vortex off I-5 Just north of Medford? I heard that is where the out of spec receivers come from.

I was taking one of the new guys up there a couple of months ago... showing the corridore -- and actually right about where you are talking, he was looking out of the window and says "man, that's a big junkyard"

He was serious
