I started the "war" with the initial comment on AR stocks not belonging on AKs. Let's get this back on track.

I don't want or care for a collapsing stock on my AK, but absolutely agree that some may find one desirable/beneficial. They look silly to me, but that really doesn't matter. The folding option is more desirable to me though. Easist option is a straight bolt on Romy wire folder, but some don't like shooting the wire stock. OK.

So, getting back to the OP and the question about a stock adapter, what other choices are there besides that piece of crap plastic one? Photos are best.

My AR with Sopmod fully collapsed has a LOP an inch shorter than my Arsenal SGL-31. But, the way I shoot it NTCH, it is just a hair shorter than a Warsaw pact AK. I don't wear armor (firefighter, not LE) and I don't need my AK stock to go any shorter than where I shoot my collapsable AR. Therefore, collapsing stock on the AK is not a real benefit for me (and I don't mount slings on stocks, AR or AK. Receiver end plate for me. Don't need storage either).

What is the legth of pull with an adapter bolted on the back end of the receiver and an AR stock installed? Can anyone post a photo(s) of an AR stocked AK (fully collapsed) next to a Warsaw pact stocked AK? Most adapters I have seen add length to the set up and I'd like to see how much shorter they really can go.

Let's get back to the question.

If you want to comment about the stock piece do so. Personal opinions and the necessity of his choice aren't the question.

Fair enough.

If anybody here has plans to convert a Saiga and wants a good AR stock adapter, here's a version that I really dig. It's for a mil-spec tube supposedly, but I had to yank on it pretty hard to get the tube threaded in there. Works great though once in, and is strong. You DO have to cut off the rear tang though. So if that introduces too much suck then it may not be for you.

LINK

I will be getting another one.

If you decide to go with an ACE block, you have several options.

There are internal and external blocks for both stamped and milled guns. I personally only run the internal blocks but you have to cut the tang(s) off for both the stamped and the milled. Once that's in place, you can just get an AR stock adapter and run that. Alternatively, you could put an ACE folding mechanism on the receiver block and have a folder too.

The Vltor is a good option if you don't want a folder and also have a stamped AK. Noteworthy that it won't work with Yugos, however.

That one appears to be configured to work in conjunction with an ACE block

Or a clone of it. They also have receiver blocks and a few other ACE looking items.

recently purchased one from CAA, this thing is rock solid (aluminum tube) very comfortable to shoot as in shouldering it up to take aim. though i had to trim it to fit my rpk, since my receiver is thicker than the normal wasr.

That's nice. Got some more pics of that? So it's good and solid?

Here is the Vltor adjustable stock on my Arsenal SGL 20. Also a comparison pic next to the original warsaw length stock with the vltor fully collapsed.

warsaw = 9.25"

Vltor = 7.75" (fully collapsed)

The Vltor stock adapter is rock solid, all metal with water tight storage compartment in the rear of the adapter. Its also mil spec diameter for mil spec stocks. Easy to install (after you get the original stock off which is not easy) Hope this info and the pics above help.
