PLEASE HELP: NEED AMMO ID

i really need someone to help me ID this blank round. i know it is 30.06, but i cant tell you if it was fired from a garand, M14, or 03 springfield. i have searched all over the internet for it.
ok, i have a project im doing as a surprise for my gf and her brother. recently, her grandfather, who was a general, passed away, and at his funeral they had a 21 gun salute. she loved and cared for him greatly, as did her brother. she picked this up off the ground, and its impossible to seperate her from it. what i am going to do is take it to an engraver's, and have his name and rank engraved on it, then drill a hole in the base of the round so she can put it on her key chain. i already have one, and i would REALLY like to have another one so i can do the same for her little brother. i know they would really really like this, and it is a surprise. if anyone could help out, i would greatly appreciate it. i will pay whatever you want.

again, any and all help is greatly appreciated. you would be helping me make a couple of people very dear to me have a very good day by having something really personal to remember a great influence in their lives.

Go to a local VFW post in your area and tell them why you need a few blanks for. Just make sure they are spent (AKA Fired) before you drill into them.

VFW's keep these on hand for services and events.

well, my grandfather and i went to our local one, and got what i was looking for. also sat down for a little while and talked with them.

I think if that case was on a keychain for 6-months, it wouldn't be anything but a nicked scratched-up piece of brass and I doubt you'd even be able to read the base stampings.

Why not find someone to make a fine shadow box frame and put the case, a picture (or two), and his Obit in there. Make it freestanding where it can sit on a mantle or be hung up.

Just an idea...

that really defeats the purpose of having something small and personal she can keep with her. and not so, i have a round with engraving on it on my keychain ive had for 3+ years, and subjected to all manner of abuse, and the engraving is just as clear as the day it was done.

hey guys, i found what i need. i went to my local VFW and told them what i was doing, and brought along a copy of the obituary. i also sat down for a few hours and just talked with them. i love to listen to them. its a shame people my age these days(about to turn 20) just dont care about the past or anything but themselves. i will not be one of those.
