KAC Blem OR MI rail ?
I was just wondering since im starting to get a parts list going for my next build , but why would i want a KAC rail over a MI rail ? Both of the non free float variety . The KAC is 150 as a blem and the MI is like 125 or something . I could care less about the brand im just wondering if there is a technical difference between the two that im missing . Both have been recommended to me and im sure i would be happy with either . My other gun has a MOE system and its perfectly functional but i want to try something different . Ive looked at the Troy drop in and the DD drop in and well they all pretty much look the same to me . The only thing i can think if is maybe the MI wont be finished as nice ,sharper edges etc . But for the 25 dollar difference id just as soon save the money and spend it on extra mags and what not . Thanks for the help.

I have owned the MI, KAC, and Daniel Defense. Out of the 3 of them I like the DD one the best. It was the most solid of the 3 and it fit my hand better (I have medium sized hands). If it has to be the KAC or MI I would go with the KAC and not look back as extra $25 spent is well worth it.

The newest generation mi drop in rails look VERY nice. The qd attach points are a nice touch for mi.

I'd take the MI GEN 2 over KAC

I like the rail width an height of the KAC much better than my MI. My MI is a fat rail... not sure if they've changed widths on their newer models.
I absolutely would never run a QD sling attachment... so the lost rail space to accomodate that attachment on any rail is a negative to me.

Width and overall circumference are something i did not take into account. Thanks for bringing that up .The other brands are not out of the question i just happend to say KAC and MI because those are the 2 i can get the best deal on . I would never buy a KAC at full price . that much on a rail is looney toons to me . I have smaller hands so maybe a KAC blem would be a better bet . Does anyone have pictures comparing a few of these ? Id be much obliged .
Why the QD hate Markm ? Just curious ,since qd mounts seem to be very popular around here .

I think all 3 of my KACs are the $150 deals... I like them. DD rails tend to feel like I Beams to me... (with the exception of the RIS II)
My MI feels like a football... all the rails are the same "height" off the centerline of the bore.

The repulse me on a philisophical level.
They are gay. I've watched guys pick up their gun with one end of their sling dangling... to their suprise. They are a metal, mechanical device that can fail. And they're just too prissy for me.
I'm one of those oddballs who ties his sling to his guns with paracord. It's the universal attachment device.

And ironically enough, students doing training at certain military schools carry thier rifle on regular slings mounted with the gambit of regular sling mounting options, yet are still required to make a dummy strap for it so it doesn't get lost....out of paracord....

I've never had an MI (Stick has a good review of it) but that would be my pick due to the weight or lack there of compared to the KAC.

People like the QD. No biggie. I'm the oddball who hates them.

The MI Gen 2 rail is 2.3 in wide and 2.43 in tall, compared to the KAC RAS rail at 2.18 in wide and 2.3 in tall.
I have the KAC and like it a lot. The KAC RAS and DD Omega are the gold standard by which drop-in rails are measured.
The Troy MRF-DI is very similar to the KAC RAS dimensionally, includes sling swivel sockets like the MI Gen 2 and DD Omega rails, and is significantly cheaper. I would look at that, as well.
