Does anyone reload the .223 Barnes 70 Grain TSX for the AR?
The reason I ask is I'm wondering if it wouldn't be too long OAL for an AR. I know they have a 60 or 62 grainer but wouldn't mind the heavier bullet if possible but am unsure about the length. Any input would be appreciated. I have a 1:8 twist so that weight is not an issue as far as stabilization should go.
Not a problem, just be sure to use a powder that is not compressed with the long shank of the 70 grain TSX, I use 25.0 grains of Hodgdon BLC-2 in an LC '09 case with Wolf Small Rifle Primers. Seat the bullet flush with the top ring.
Thanks! Do you think a small crimp would be better as it is in a semi auto? Or would that create a little more pressure that is not needed in this as it is seated so far into the case?
