Hey guys i want to put a 20" barrel on my panther and i was just wondering if i should sell the 16" one to offset the cost or just keep it for a spare? How much is a stock 1:9 twist 16" dpms barrel worth? It has about 50 rds through it. Also how much would the stock handguard be worth? I'd like to get a free floater. thanks for any info guys

Not the right forum for dpms...better have you're flame suit on...as far as what its worth check gunbroker in the parts section.

OP, try ar15.com for your answer. This forum is dedicated to more serious users and gear, and DPMS is not among the greatest in quality.

I'd sell it...and buy a barrel that doesn't need a backup in the first place. Put it in the equipment exchange on the other site for $100...if it doesn't sell bring the price down. Remember that people can buy a new one for $150ish...they won't(rather they shouldn't) pay any where close to that for a used one.

Remember to read the stickies and learn what you can do to get your DPMS into shape! https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=7009

It should sell fast on TOS or Gunbroker...ask $100 and be willing to go down a little.

Pleases take the time to read and use the Orange search button.
I suggest you start HERE (https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=7376).

See how much good barrels sell for and cut off 75%. I'm sure you'll be able to sell it for someone looking for a cheap build.

By definition, something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. About a dollar two ninety eight around here. Put it on Gun Broker.

Barrel only? Used, maybe $50- $75 from someone who already has all the other parts necessary to put together an upper.

It all depends on condition and how many rounds have been shot. Figure a used DPMS barrel to fetch somewhere around $80 - $120. DPMS is not known so super high quality so that is where the lower prics comes from. There are lots of folks who put together range/truck/plinker rifles that don't really care what the brand is on the barrel. You may have figured out that this site won't be the best place to sell your barrel at. You can use the other site, backpage or, if you have a local range, post it up for sale there.
Good luck.

I would think you would be money ahead selling your complete upper and using that money to fund a new complete upper.

This is the best advice in this thread.

OP, nevermind the posters who can't contribute to this thread in a positive manner.
They are mostly new members looking to dogpile.

I personally would sell the upper complete and use the money towards a quality upper like a Colt 6920 upper, or one of Bravo Company USA's many quality configurations.
My experience, though rather limited, is that Bravo's barrels are extremely well made and very accurate.

G&R Tactical is a good place to shop for a new upper.
They sell quality goods for a very good price.
Complete Colt uppers can be had for $550.

Good luck.
