Hello, I would like to ask for your help.

Over the last two winters I shot a documentary about Ski Patrol & Search and Rescue teams with the help of 14 talented filmmakers in Montana. The project has turned out as an amazing visual compellation of the life and science behind backcountry snow safety.

Across the West, there had been 13 avalanche deaths this season as of Feb. 16, and with the boom in backcountry winter sports there is a critical need in avalanche safety training. We hope our film covers much of the needed training and equipment needed to venture off the beaten path all while being visually breathtaking enough to entertain all generations of snow adventures.

The film is called Snow Guardians and I have started a Kickstarter campaign to help raise funds to complete the project. Shooting a documentary for HD broadcast TV is very expensive. I have been very lucky to have the amazing support of some very talented filmmakers and film equipment makers to film the project.

We are in the process of editing over 3.5 Terabytes of HD footage that captured the lifestyle and visual beauty that draws people the rustic mountain lifestyle. The cost to pay editors, visual effects specialists and to license music will be over $22,000 alone. We have already incurred over $33,000 in expenses to shoot much of the film. Your donation is critical to help us complete the project.

Kickstarter operates on an all-or-nothing funding model where projects must be fully funded or no money changes hands. Even a $10 dollar donation can greatly help.

This is a Collaborative Film! For only a few dollars you can get your name in the film credits! We also have two executive producer slots available (email me from kickstarter link)

Please share the link to the trailer and project on Kickstarter! Please post it to your Facebook page and email your friends.

Looks like a worth while project.

A source of frustration for many is the unnecessary risks to which volunteer rescue personnel are subjected to every year by, as the narrator in the video states, people "silly enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time." It seems 9 out of 10 times rescue personnel are dispatched, it's to save some asshole's bacon who skied into a closed area or somebody highmarking in an area posted for avalanche danger.

Stupid people making shitty decisions and putting dedicated, well-trained volunteers at risk unnecessarily. Not to mention the cost. I'm glad to see some agencies sending a bill to the victims under these circumstances, although I imagine it's like trying to squeeze blood from a turnip most of the time.

Mountain/snow sports aren't science. There definitely an art to learning how to read the wx, terrain, and your skils or lack thereof. Knowing the local history & lore is paramount.

I think mountain rescue is also one of the few communities, aside from SOF life, where your core being readily shows. It's hard to fake it, pose, BS, or weasel your peers on the mountain.

I'm throwing a few dollars, starbucks $$ for a month, their way.

I'll probably kick some cash their way in a bit. I also shared it on FB, maybe get a little more visibility or some shares...

Good luck!!! Hope he scores big!!!

Thx for support.

This isn't a money maker for the folks involved. He's from Montana & we know a bunch of the local folks. The project was just to bring awareness of a chronically underfunded segment of volunteers who do a kick ass job.

Please share it on Facebook or other media with a wide distribution.
