I recently aquiered a Centurion Arms DMR upper built with a VLTOR VIS 3. I cannot for the life of me find any info one the extra holes. The would be the ones located on the forward portion of the left and right side. I'm imagining they are for mounting something, but what?

I think it would be for a grenade launcher in the rifle length handguard.
Not absolutely positive on that however.

scoby had it right. they were intended as mounting holes for a rail-mounted grenade launcher. the grenade launcher would be fitted with a special bracket that would mount to those holes, instead of mounting to the barrel the normal way at the front. this would allow the barrel to still free float.

That's what I was suspecting, I just couldn't tell by some of the pics I was viewing. It'd be nice if someone took advantage of them and used them for other accessories.
