Free email that isn't hugely invasive?

Getting away from google and need a new web based email that isn't google linked. Any decent/good ones?

my company will provide email for $24 / year. Not Free, but no intrusion either.

That Google sign-in you see at Yahoo--in and of itself--doesn't matter. That's just an "open authentication scheme" that lets you get a token from one recognized site, and enables you to log into another. It's for user convenience, it has nothing to do with exposing the data of one site to another.

AT&T internet is Yahoo mail too. I fixed a PC for an older farm couple and they only get dail up.
