Gas rings

Are the Gas rings on the bolt of the bolt carrier suppose to be loose? or should they be tight?

Just took my new DDm4 V4 out for the first time and while cleaning i found them really loose.

They should float. A little movement is fine. There should be 3 and they should not be able to separate from the bolt on their own even if you shake them around. I bet what you describe is normal.

With the bolt removed from the carrier, the gas rings need to be loose. The internal diameter of the springs have to be larger than the diameter of the groove in the bolt or they cannot compress and form a seal when inside the carrier
