View Full Version : HK P30L custom Serrations & Heinies
For those of you that are not on HKpro I started a thread last week sometime to tell everyone my plans to have custom serrations milled into the top of my P30L. A local guy who owns a machineshop ATEi guns (http://ateiguns.com/)and has been doing some really good work with M&P's and Glocks. I asked Doug about the possibility of doing some work to the P30L and he was happy to.
I dropped it off on monday and he sent me these preview pictures tonight.

Here is a video of it's application with Steve Fisher from MDFI and Magpul Dynamics.

I'll update as it progresses.
Well, this thread hasn't gotten much love but I thought I'd share what doug did with my P30L.
I like it and it's effective. It's not the DNA scraper the M&P's have but it's a lot better and it looks good to.

What purpose (if any) do the serrations serve?
What purpose (if any) do the serrations serve?
When I approached Doug about them it was for one handed operation of the gun at the worst I was doing a class in some nasty weather and was watching hands cold wet slipping off guns then during a one handed operation class
I saw a few things that made me go wtf. Guys were getting to fixated on looking down for hard points to catch there sights on belts holsters et ... then one shooter ripped off his rear glock sight in same class anyhow
The top serrations work on. Clothing etc and so on. Also cut glare
That said a good gun should have good sights period. But we often. See this is not the case
I've always liked how slide top serrations looked when they match the original. I never knew that they could be used for one-hand manipulation (YouTube link in OP), thank you Mr. Fisher for you insight. Doug does some nice work and your P30 is no different, loved the way it turned out.

I'm a novice shooter but just manipulating the pistol last night seemed like night and day. It feels positive where as before it felt like my hand would slide right off the top if I didn't grip it just right.
Are you able to catch those heines effectively on a belt/pocket?
The ledge looks like a gentle slope vs hard edge.

Not as well as I would like. Hienies only make a slant pro for the P30 so I was really limited in my choices. I like Doug prefer the Trijicon HD's but they are not available for the P30's yet.
The serrations are more effective than the sights.
I think that looks awesome. Others may feel differently, but I say touche for trying something different sir.

No thats part of the reason they were done some wont change sights, some like them etc... but i still wanted a more broad purchase of the slide on anything from cars to walls to tables to other human beings as long as i can make contact with it its going to work
they work even better on glocks

Looks pretty good. How aggressive would you say the serrations are?
While I am not a fan of the top cocking serrations in general, those turned out really well on the HK.
I did just get my G19 slide back from ATEi after having Doug mill it for a RMR02, and I can't say enough about the quality of the work. It looks like it came from the factory this way. I will be sending him my M&P 9c slide as soon as funds allow. Doug definitely does top notch work.

I would say they are slightly more aggressive that the side serration but 100%I more effective.
Doug did up the sites for me tonight. :dirol:

I have no idea how to post videos here so here's a link to the video I made of the serrations.

Wolvee, I take it those were standard Heinie's you had modified? If so, VERY COOL!
I've been waiting for some Ledge sights from Henine for HK!
Nice work man.

Yes, the Slant Pros

You and me both.
I really like the sight picture of the straight eights but am not so big on the slant design of the rear sight.
Btw, good looking pistol Wolvee! I'm jealous...
