I posted a couple weeks ago about buying a DD upper that included a DD upper receiver and a DD Rail system but on closer inspection discovered it came with a DPMS barrel. Bought this believing it was a FULL DD upper.

Well, I sold the DPMS barrel for $150.00 dollars to buddy who was trying to build a bargain base weekend plinker so I'm ready to buy a real DD barrel.

OK! Button Rifled Vs. CHF. I was all set to get a CHF barrel when I found some DD Button Rifled barrels at one dealer for $215.00 dollar, including the FSB.

I'm just a weekend plinker. This rifle is not my go to home defense gun (my HK45C is), all I'm going to do it shoot 2 gun matches and targets with it. So unless zombies, politicians, or terrorists attack, for the extra $60+ dollars, do I really NEED a CHF barrel? Maybe someone is going to tell me yes, it's worth it?

I've had both and just at first glance the CHF has a clearly better/heavier finish on it.(not to mention the process) And correct me if I'm wrong but DD stopped making the button bbls in 09.

I'd pay $100 + in difference for the CHF. Don't worry about a slim price diff, work and extra hour overtime or something.

Though if you are just shooting dirt and $60 or so means less than your concern in the diff bbls then just snag the button... I'd go CHF... just my thoughts!

IMHO, $60.00 isn't that much more money, so if it were me, CHF. Just not a big enough gap in price to make a difference.

Answer for your intent is......... no. You do not NEED it.

You do not exactly 'need' it. On the other hand, you may change your mind about it being a weekend plinker.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe that DD quit producing the Button Barrels a few years ago. Either was I would definitely go with the CHF barrel. They are outstanding barrels! Just my .02
