View Full Version : Normal Bolt Lug Wear
You probably can not see the wear/marring in the pic but is it normal for a bolt to show wear signs on the corner of the lug highlighted in blue?

That corner is relieved to allow the lug clearance for camming into place. I would expect to see it rubbed bright after some shooting or hand-cycling.
Why?
I wanted to know if was any indication of an over gassed upper or out of spec bolt

Are you having problems with the rifle?

no not at all... thousands of rounds down the pipe with out any issues but I was wondering if the wear pattern is normal... that particular bolt had about 1000 rounds on it when the pic was taken
As Patrick said,
That is a normal design feature of the bolt. The barrel extension has a matching set of chamfers as well.
These allow the bolt to transition from forward to lock in a smooth manner.
You have nothing to be concerned about.
