Interesting news today (http://www.wnd.com/2012/03/obama-impeachment-bill-now-in-congress/?cat_orig=us)

Let the president be duly warned.

Rep. Walter B. Jones Jr., R-N.C., has introduced a resolution declaring that should the president use offensive military force without authorization of an act of Congress, “it is the sense of Congress” that such an act would be “an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor.”

Strange...doesn't the War Powers Act allowed POTUS 60 days, and can be extended an additional 30 days, without consulting congress for offensive military action abroad?

It does and this is nothing more than political gamesmanship during an election year.

Rep. Jones is looking to grab some headlines and burnish his conservative credentials as he is getting "primaried" by a more conservative challenger who is attacking him as "too moderate" and as a former Democrat who switched parties simply to gain office when there was a change in North Carolina congressional districting.

The "War Powers Act" only gives the president power IF and ONLY IF "a national emergency created by attack upon the United States, its territories or possessions, or its armed forces."

He must notify the congress within 48hrs of comminting armed forces to military action, and can do so for no more than 60days without congressional approval.

IT DOES NOT give the president free reign to do whatever the hell he wants to, or to follow whatever the U.N. TELLS him to do. Libya was not a threat, Syria is not a threat, and neither is Iran for that matter. Mr. Soetoro aka Obama believes he is a Dictator, more than likely due to his complete lack of knowledge concerning Constitutional Law.

It may only give him 60 days, but honestly, if a President commits blood and treasure to a remote location and it's day 58, they aren't just going to pack up and come home. He'll strong arm the Congress by using the public.

I think this and the absolute lack of coverage on Joe Arpaio's investigation into Obama are gonna make for some interesting times.

He knows it. He ACTUALLY thinks it is to compared to everybody else that is co-opted and vote against it.

What drives me nuts is people just turn a blind eye to the most important part of the whole damn War Powers Act

"a national emergency created by attack upon the United States, its territories or possessions, or its armed forces."

They just throw the War Powers Act out and believe that it just dissolves any checks and balances out there. They think "oh well the war powers act just nullifies everything else, the president can decided to go to war whenever he feels like it"..

Only Congress has the power to declare war.

Who knows, maybe Barry thinks the same way Bush did...the constitution is just a god damn piece of paper. Mr. Pannetta believes the U.N. gets to decide......wtf?

Just for debate sake here:

Doesn't Congress authorize and approve whatever the President does when they pass military funding bills while troops are in the field?

It doesn't matter whether Obama violated the War Powers Act. It doesn't matter if any of his records are suspect or illegitimate. It really doesn't matter what he does. Just like Fast & Furious, the media has deemed these issues to be non-issues. Until they approve of any disparagement of Obama, it will not fly.

Our real leaders have spoken. Time to move on. :(
