Hi I have a YHM FF hand guard and bought a tango down vertical grip. I can’t seem to get the VFG on the rail. Are most vertical grip/rails the same sizes?

I had problems getting my Tango down on a old set of Samco m33's a few years ago. (they are plastic HG's, I was an AR newb then) Anyways, now it fits loose on my LaRue rail after I shaved it to fit the M33. If it's a hard fit, I'd count on the rail being out of spec. I don't know anything about YHM rails, hopefully someone else can help you out.

TDs don't fit YHM very well. If you look at the cross section of the actual rail, the "head" of the rail doesn't sit very far from the tube the YHM is made from whereas on a DD or LaRue, that portion is quite a distance away from the smaller diameter tubes.

You'll have to file down the inner edges of your TD.

I bought a used TD grip from someone here a year or so ago that was evidently relieved to fit on a YHM rail because now it doesn't work on a rail that is in spec.

Fortunately I bought a YHM rail to put on a .22 so I guess I can finally use the damn thing. :D

YHM has a problem making rails that are in spec.

No Shihan, they are IN spec. There is an allowable height the picatinny rail can be set away from the tube to provide clearance. YHM is at the minimum and TD puts a lot of meat on their grips.

Be fair.

In the past I sold YHM rails and would have them returned for things other than TD VFG not fitting. I stopped selling them because of this as well as other YHM products. Just recently I started selling their Phantoms which I like.

But it's that same dimension where other things wouldn't fit.

For instance, a surefire X200a will fit both the AR and the S&W while a KAC vertical grip will not fit on a S&W M&P. It's not that one or the other are not in spec.

Which is why I went with the very lightweight Bobro Stubby VFG... Love it! No grooves to worry about...

Great. I just bought a TD VFG to go on my YHM rail. Is there a chance it is going to fit or am I SOL.

You will be fine, if you don't mind 'relieving' it a bit ... OR trade with one of the other guys who has one that is already altered and wants an unaltered one!

My Tango Down grip was very difficult to get on my rail as well. That particular rail is a Surefire, which I know may or may not be to spec.

Yeah, it's aluminum, choices are Bushmaster Purple or black. That's about it. Or Surefire HAIII silver...

Krylon will work :p

I had trouble getting my TD vertical foregrip on my YHM rails. I just used a little sandpaper and elbow grease to solve the problem.

My TD was a pain in the a@$ to slide down the rail but with little help from my lite rubber mallet and couple taps.
