What are tyhe differences between the BCM 16in Mid Lengths and the RECCE 16in Mid Lengths? They seemed to be priced about the same, so why go one over the other?

The Recce mid-lengths have a factory installed free-floating rail, as well as a low-profile gas block.

I don't know how you came up with the idea that they are priced about the same though......

in the end it all just boils down to personal pref. what you want to use it for. some like a the a2 front sight, some like to have folding buis. some just run irons, some run rds. its all personal pref. flip a coin. either way they are both top notch uppers

I am not understanding what you are comparing. One is a bare upper, and the other, more expensive one, is an upper with a quad rail hand guard. Price wise, that's comparing apples to oranges.

I guess my point re: price was, for about the same amount of money I can get a mid-length, or a mid-length RECCE. Just looking for the differences between the two to help make up my mind on which way to go.

You don't understand what you are talking about.

Yes, one is a bare upper. The other, the Recce comes from Bravo Company with a rail.

That is the main thing that sets the Recce apart from the standard midlength upper, is the Recce comes with a rail.....

If you bothered yourself to look at the specifications set forth on the BravoCompanyMFG site, it should have been pretty obvious what the differences are between the standard midlength, and the Recce....

Mid16Mod0: http://bravocompanymfg.com/specification/bcm_mid16_mod0.php

Recce16: http://bravocompanymfg.com/specification/bcm_recce_16.php

Notice that they both use a Government profile barrel, and the only difference is that the Recce has a rail, and a low-profile gas block.

I think the confusion comes from the fact that they have a section called '16" Recce Upper Groups' and one called '16" Midlength Upper Groups' on the Bravo Company USA site when really the Recce uppers should actually be a subsection of the 16" midlength groups. In other words, the Recce uppers are listed in both sections. Hope that makes sense. It took me a while to realize this when I first started looking at BCM uppers.

To the OP, if you have any questions about BCM stuff, email them. In my experience they are very responsive to emails.

Really, it depends what your use for the rifle will be....

What optics are you going to put on the rifle? At what distances will you be using the rifle, etc?

Describe what you plan to use the rifle for, and that will help determine which model you want.
