I would have tackled her the second time she threatened to kill someone. Those people let that go on way longer than it should have.

OTOH, I can see how something so weird like this could just stun people because it was so unexpected.

I have seen that twice at my community college in 2 years. The first time was in math class the girl got upset because she was not getting the material. She took it as raciest and freaked out she had to me removed by security.

Looks to me like a simple case of someone having a major mental and emotional breakdown. These can be triggered by practically anything when a person is on the edge. Only difference between her and the nut jobs that shoot up some random place is that she didn't have a gun.

May be a good example of why to carry less than lethal options. Even though she appeared to be screaming about how she wanted to kill people and hated white people (then proceeded to turn violent), it seems backing away and using pepper spray if she tried to follow and assault you would be the best solution.
Hopefully she's in a mental institution now and unable to harm anyone.

I disagree. She was unstable and acting in an unreliable fashion. Until she made a move towards someone I think they made the right choice.

I know we are switching the topic a little but I heard a comment on the news Monday about that shooting. It was a government official....wait for it....investigating whether or not the shooting was intended to take away the victim's civil rights.

Assault is assault, period. If she would've put a hand on me she would've taken a shot to the face and I say that with absolute conviction. Just cause she's got an innie and I've got an outie doesn't give her the right to put her hands on me. She's a large, strong woman and I'll be damned if I'm gonna be her "white devil punching bag".
I was assaulted a couple of years ago, punched in the face, by a crazy woman on video in a major casino on the Las Vegas Strip. My response was to hit her as hard as I could in the jaw resulting in knocking her out in the middle of the casino. Honestly I didn't even think of her as a woman and just reacted to the stimuli of being hit. The result of this was me fighting 4 guys who all received bloody noses :) I got a little dinged up too but nothing worth worrying about. Security asked me to wait for police officers to arrive in their back room and I did. LV Metro reviewed the tape and said it was a non-issue as long as neither party wanted to press charges, we didn't. After that we left the casino and grabbed drinks at another establishment.
My mom, wife, mother-in-law and every other woman I've ever told the story to as sided with me and that's good enough for me. Chivalry and all that other heroic crap goes out the window when hands start flying.

I firmly believe in equal rights for women. They should enjoy every opportunity we do, including the right to vote & to make equal pay for equal work, etc. But, the right to scream racial death threats & punch me in the face with immunity isn't one of them.

Just as a point of clarification about my previous post re: campus carry. I did not mean to imply that lethal force should be used; only that our campuses have some dangerous folks.
Let's assume that evolved faster than it did, and I was still there....
If she had punched/pushed my face she would have caught at least one solid shot in the mouth -- everything I had. I may have even gone violence of action and just taken her straight to the ground.
Now, that being said, it evolved WAY slowly, and I would have been out of the room, damn near immediately, and on the phone to the cops.
Probably standing by in case she started stabbing people or something, but out of direct line of action, like the dude she did actually punch in the face. That was just stupid, and naive.

I worked for several years as an adjunct professor at a local college here in Texas. I can assure you, the degree of brainwashing that goes on regarding "conflict resolution" is amazing. We were all given very strict and detailed instructions on exactly how to handle an incident like this. It basically boiled down to let the crazy people be crazy, and summon the campus police, who would then pass out the lyrics to "Kumbayah."
Funny thing is, the campus police had to respond to my calls twice. And in the words of Chris Rock, "they brought an ass whupping with them."
Both times the officer very firmly established command presence, instructed the person to immediately stop their actions. When they did not, they performed the Habeas Grabbus and took them to the pavement most speedily. They were then cuffed and stuffed into a Crown Vic, and I never saw them again.
(I had this very bizarre habit of providing free fresh-brewed coffee for the officers in my computer lab. I wonder if that had some sort of influence......)

I think that you are on the right track. However, they did not hit their fight or flight response because they no longer have that ability in their repertoire. That is to say, American's (especially rich suburbanites) have started to breed all violence and self-preservation out of the population. We are becoming like my great dane; once a ferocious hunter of boar, now bred to be an oversized lapdog. Hell, my female German Shepherd is 1/3 his size and kicks him off his bed every night - pathetic.
Today's women select their mates based on the ability to provide financial security, while warriors often get passed over unless they are celebrity athletes. Being able to handle yourself gets you labeled as a meathead by most debutant queens. Rough men are good only for a 1-night stand in most women's eyes, but not a lasting relationship to produce offspring (not always a bad thing ;)). In addition to the breeding, America's youth are taught to avoid violence at all costs and are punished for acts of self-defense on school property.
So, don't blame the poor sheepole sitting in the front row. They did exactly what they were bred and trained to to - shut up, sit there, make ready an iPhone, and take it in the ass.
