Greetings, long time lurker.

Picked up this sexy little baby a couple of weeks ago. Shot 500+ totally trouble free rounds through her. I took a pile of pics and here are some of my favorites. First time posting here so hopefully it works out.

One of the first flattops on the market! Look good, run it hard and report back.

MBUS appears to be the supplied rear for these. Anyone seeing any different?

ran a pile of ammo through her this weekend and even shot a little video. Zero problems and very easy to shoot. Here's me popping some steel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLmEKL4Umg0

Glad to see they are finally dong a 9mm flattop from the factory. If I wasn't married to my RRA/Anvil, or if I was starting from scratch, that's what I'd get in a "subgun" too, and SBR it.

I found it on GB for just below msrp. Bought it on the 8th, delivered to my FFL on the 12th. I'd been searching for "Colt 9mm ar" for weeks there and must have jumped on it just after it was posted. I have to get off my butt and load up some 147 subsonics on my little Dillon. This platform gets the worst "ammo milage" of any gun I own. pop.pop.ping.ping...pop.ping.pop.ping. ha

Thanks for posting the pics and info on this. These seem very rare at the moment.

I'm not 100% sure why I want one of these, but I do. A simple, pistol caliber blowback AR just seems neat. Add that to the fact that it seems like it would be a very slick platform to SBR and suppress.

Whose going to be carrying these when production hits? Grant?

edit/ I located this company but have never purchased from them.

Will anything have to be adjusted if I get one of these and have the barrel cut down to 10.5"?

WOW, Colt makes a rifle that every other company that makes 9mm's has been making for years? I guess it's nice to see someone at Colt went on a website or to SHOT and saw that other companies make 9mm's with flattops from the factory. Never understood why in the hell it takes Colt forever to respond to the market.

How do these run? I've heard that 9mm ARs aren't too reliable.

They seem to be quite reliable actually, with most problems being related the the mags. Use quality Colt/Metalform mags, and vet them. Even the C-prod ones can be fine if you vet them as well.

Reality is, it is a very niche market, and Colt has been focused on their military production I think.

I've ran about 2500-3000 rounds through mine (6450) with no issues. I may get one of the new flat-tops as well.. Ron

600m sight? Isn't that too optimistic? What is the max effective range
of these guns?

Mine has been 100% reliable without a single malfunction of any kind. It is a fantastic carbine and the recoil is much closer to that of my 5.56 rifle vs. the S&W 15-22.

I'm interested in getting one of these as well. Have you guys tried shooting JHPs through yours? Will these take quad rail handguards meant for 5.56 Colt carbines (i.e. MI #17C)?

I've wanted one for more than a decade.. Finally picked one up this weekend. Mine is a true 6450, not the flat top version..

It's going to be SBR'ed and suppressed when funds allow.. Might make a flat top at that time, but haven't made up my mind yet...

From the reviews here, it would seem that Colt got their crap together and got their 9mm AR to run right. I tried two of their older 9mm AR's (bought new LE restricted back during the federal AWB on a letter from my Chief) and neither would feed any JHP. I was actually surprised when it would make it through a full maf even with ball ammo without a malfunction. I ran both using factory new LE marked Colt mags, too.

I picked up two Olympic pistol cal AR's, one 9mm and one .45acp, both SBR'd now, and they never malfunction.

Picked a 6451 up a couple of weeks ago. So far about 500 rounds through it without a hiccup. RN, FP, HP and even my bunny fart pistol reloads without a problem. Lots of fun to shoot.
