I called both of these companies in hopes of gathering more information on who manufacturers the bolts and carriers they use to have the EXO coating applied to.

I got the same answer; "We don't disclose that kind of information..."

Besides the fact that what they said came off as extremely sketchy, does anybody have solid information on who's BCGs they use?

I did. And it yielded as much information as calling those guys. Precisely why I started a new thread on the off chance someone might know who makes the BCGs they coat with EXO.

Generally- that is called a clue. Many companies will not divulge their parts and sources. This is why I stick with those that are known variables.

I understand what your saying. Between the Spikes and WMD BCGs, which one would you go with?

I'd buy either A) 2 DD BCGs or B) 2 BCM BCGs and call it a day.

You can take a look at this if you want:

After the recent spikes vs psa debacle on TOS I can say that I would never purchase anything from Spikes.

TLDR basically PSA said they had HPT uppers in 6.8 and 300blk, so Tom gets on there and calls them out saying no one has HPT in those calibers since there are no proof loads.

Well PSA then posts photos of boxes of proof rounds in those calibers.

Tom made an ass of himself and showed how little he knows by calling them out.

I guess I'll just go with Fail Zero. Looks like it works for Costa...

Wow, so that rates as a "Debacle" in your book. That was almost as big an anti-climax as Kimbo Slice signing with the UFC.

So it didn't have anything to do with actual issues concerning Spikes Tactical products but rather was one of the endless arfcom pissing contests. Please leave that stuff over there.

hey yall asked for the links, but you really don't see the issue with a industry professional calling another out only to look like a retard?

ETA: Debacle: A sudden and ignominious(Deserving or causing public disgrace or shame) failure....yep sounds like a debacle to me

I dont know who makes spikes BCG's but I have one in NiB and a parked one, both outstanding. I've never seen where DD, BCM etc have divulged the producers of their BCG's, great stuff but just sayin......

This is turning into a debacle debacle.......

In all seriousness, if you plan on cleaning your rifle on a regular basis then I wouldn't even bother with NiB bcg's. As it was mentioned before, go with a BCM or DD BCG and call it a day. Use the $$ you saved on some ammo.

There is already a thread on Spike's NiB coated stuff somewhere on M4C and the general consensus of the thread was that yes, as the coating can be really good, other factors come into play such as: the material of the bolt, the tolerances before the coating, was plating done first, the thickness of the coating, if the HPT was done, if the MPI was done... etc... So if all that stuff isn't known to be good and trustworthy, then why even consider it? Just buy a known working product if it's a rifle/carbine that you plan to use for any serious use.

Colt, BCM, DD, LMT.

Neither. Because I don't really need some gimmicky coating on my BCG. I know that if I keep mine lubed up, the minimal cleaning that I do doesn't warrant the high cost.

The NiB coatings are pretty cool, however I can think of some other ways to spend my cash. Took a class a couple of weeks ago where one of the students had a Spikes NiB BCG. At the end of the weekend the crud wiped right off of his BCG which was cool. Course mine cleaned up easy too with a few sprays of n/c brake cleaner and re lube with synthetic Motor oil.

My point is people by these yet still have to clean them and will still end up lubing them so what's the point? Use good lube which doesn't burn off or allow carbon from to stick and rock on with a standard phosphated BCG.

Blame any mispellings on Autocorrect & Tapatalk

After reading some of the threads on BARF, I won't comment on them, but will leave prospective buyers with this thought.

When I choose companies to give my money to, the maturity & professionalism of the owner and employees of said company matters a lot to me.

YMMV.

I have never spent much time on TOS but as an owner of a Spikes rifle reading the way the company rep conducts himself makes me feel dirty, not in a good way either.
