I know you asked for a non battery powered RMR owner, but I have a battery powered one and I think it's better than the non battery powered. I own the RMR Model RM06 (http://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product3.php?pid=RM06).

I wanted a battery powered RMR because I own the ACOG sight Model TA13F-G which uses the surrounding light to light up the reticle (http://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product3.php?pid=TA31F-G) Under total darkness it was very difficult to see the reticle in my ACOG. During the daylight or when you have a minimum light source, the ACOG was amazing. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my ACOG but that was my only gripe. So I guess it would apply to a non battery powered RMR?

PROS (of battery powered RMR):
- Small and compact
- Super durable and rugged (I have seen the RMR mounted on handguns. The RMR was used as leverage against your belt, boot, table, etc. to chamber a round. It kept it's zero as well. I.e. practicing to manipulate your firearm if one of your arms are disabled.)
- Adjustable LED and OFF setting

CONS (of battery powered):
- Battery powered (you have to replace it over time... I never had to replace it since I owned it. I accidentally left it on a few times after going to the desert and the battery still has juice.)
- Very low (I used to have my EoTech 512 on my M4 before the RMR. With the RMR, I had to lower my view to be able to see the red dot with my RMR. I think I could fix this by raising the RMR sight).

Some photos of the RMR on my Colt M4. I mounted the RMR at a 45 degree angle for CQC. I used a gear sector mount.

I have aTrijicon RX06 Reflex Sight. I know it is not the RMR, however, from looking at it they both experience the same short comings.

PROS:
No battery
Light weight
Made in USA
Cheap (I usually see them in the $300-$350 range new)
If it is for a pistol it is the best optic choice so far (I'd go with the LED version though)

CONS
The dot tends to be dim
The dot tends to wash out on light backgrounds/using a weapon light
Any dust/dirt/debris that ends up on the sight can block the dot from being projected (unlike an Aimpoint)
Cannot adjust the dot brightness on the LED and Dual-Illuminated models.
LED RMR needs to be removed then rezeroed to replace the battery
NOT CHEAP when compared to a used Aimpoint or EOTech (I purchased a Police trade in Comp M3 for $250)

If it is for a pistol then the RMR LED versions are the way to go.

If it is for a long gun there are better options. And believe me I REALLY wanted one for my AR but after looking at it and getting a sweet deal on my M3 it is no longer an option for me.

The RMR (dual-illuminated) is the most washout-resistant of the currently-available Reflex-style optics (ie: tritium & fiber optics).
However, even when compared to the Aimpoint Micro I find it slower on-target w/some fisheye to the lens.
I'd go w/the Micro for a primary optic.

I would like to keep this thread going I am putting an rmr on a glock in the near future and would really like to use the dual illumination version so I don't have to worry about changing batteries. So if any one has experience with them please share.

As stated previously go with the adjustable LED RMR for pistol use. DocGKR has a write up on them use the search.
