I really like the feel of a M&P 9/40. The trigger gets much better with the Apex stuff.

Intended use? Preference? Do you like what you've owned or do you want something different? This is a broad question that'll get few (good) responses til you narrow your scope for us.

Either way, no one on the internet can tell you what to get. Go rent as many as you can and based on your use and budget, pick what fits you the best.

Rather than investing in new inventory, why not invest in yourself and take a class? You have an ample supply of arms for most common purposes already. Can you use them to their fullest extent and efficiency?

Maybe the Walther PPQ or M&P?

I am still thinking of getting one of those in 9mm some day, because they seem really nice and I liked the way the M&P felt in the hand.

Been looking at H&K USP 40. Anyone who has one like it or dislike? Like the feel of it but haven't had chance to shoot it. Gun range that let's u rent and shoot is 1hr away and they are rip off for renting

I had a few USPs and many USP variants before, I prefer P30 due to much softer recoil and possibly one of the most comfortable pistol grip on the planet. Check out P30L if you like full size pistol and don't care to conceal it.

Coming from someone who also have owned many Glocks; Be aware of HK trigger systems before you try. They are quite "different" than what you are use to. You might be ok with them at first, or you might hate them entirely since the first time. Same goes to M&P.

PPQ is a great mid sized pistol! I have one in 9mm and .40. I love them.

I have the M&P 9c & .40c, I was eyballing the full sized. The PPQ I hear nothing but good things about them. My only worry about the PPQ is the different mag release. All these years of the Glock/M&P type, I wonder if in a stressful situation I might F/U.

Mid sized? I thought they were about the same size as a G17? Sorry for the thread hijack OP, I'll shut up now.

I have had no problem with the PPQ mag release. I use my trigger finger instead of my thumb actually. It works quite well. Can still shoot pistols with thumb release just fine. You might be surprised at how easy it is to switch back and forth. No different than an AK vs. AR really.

No actually they are closer to a G19 or G23. The 9mm is a 15 round, the .40 is a 12 round mag.

I have a Walther P22 with that type of mag release. I very seldom ever shoot it though, I will say I never had it hicup though.

The USP is arguably the most proven handgun there is. I love my USP40. Keep in mind the USP was designed around the 40 S&W so if you're going to shoot .40 then this is an excellent choice. CDNN has some police trade ins for $450-$500 depending on if you want .40 or .45, so yeah.. that can't be beat really. I love the trigger. One of the best single action triggers I've used. Can't go wrong with a USP.

Another vote for the PPQ, trust everyone you won't regret it. I just picked up my second one and am wondering why I need any other pistols.

Agreed. I have my original USP .40 full size from the early 90's and it's still the best, most accurate and reliable handgun I own.

No one suggested the fnp9/40.

Very nice gun, fun reliable gun.

P30 (ergonomics), USP or PPQ, in that order, would be my suggestion. You already have enough of the other brand. I'd also suggest a 1911 instead of yet another gLocK.

Make that three of us.....only mine is a .45c and I'll never sell it. Although mine isn't from the early 90's.

I went with the PPQ, no regrets. It's a good suppressor host and is easily more accurate than I am.

I won't full on recommend it until I take a class in June, but on first, second, third, and fourth impressions it's really quite nice.

The one issue is, that if you carry a double action, LEM, heavy pull glock, or with a manual safety, the PPQ may not be for you. It does have an EXCELLENT two stage trigger, but it's lighter than a lot of other guns. If you are fine with the lighter glocks, or an M&P Apex without saftey, good to go I'm sure. I can NOT tell a difference between weight or pull distance on the P99 AS in SA vs the PPQ (although a tiny bit in the reset).
