I have a USP 40c and with the regular mag base plate, my pinky is almost all the way on the grip. It's much better with he extended mag base plate and that's what I have on all of the mags for that gun.

I've shot the P2000 with the standard base plate and it was long enough such that all my fingers were able to grip the gun. I haven't handled a P30 yet.

Is there a gun shop near you that you can handle some of those pistols? Probably your best bet.

Never had a USP. I did have the P30 and P2000. I would go with the P30. Why not rent them to decide?

Handle them. But P30. Idk why people say its not for carry. I carry mine every day.

Owned all three

The P2000 is HK's jack of all trades.

P30 if you're not going to use it for ccw

P2000 is an updated USPc. I find it relatively easy to carry, and the ergos a step above the USP. The P30 is the best feeling gun I have ever held, but will be harder to carry (larger and the grip texture will rub on your skin). If it will be primarily a carry gun, I would choose the P2000 in LEM.

I can just get a full grip on my USPc .40 with the flat mag base plates. The full sized USP has a larger frame I don't know how it compares with the P30 frame.

No doubt I will rent these guns before I buy. I just have not been able to find any places to do that yet. Thanks for all the quick responses. I'm 6 foot and 150 pounds and I regularly conceal a M&P45 Midsize and Glock 21SF. I really want something that I can get a full grip on. A Glock 19 is the absolute smallest grip I can deal with if that helps for reference.

Based on this, the P30 should be a good fit for you.

I am a bigger guy, but I carry a P30 with a TLR2-S in a raven. I have no issues. I do not tuck my shirt in though. I have friends that know I carry but have no idea where or how.

Just go to the store at start looking at people's waist bands to see if you can see if they are carring. You will soon see how weird it feels to look at people's waists. Not too many people are looking for a print on you, and if they are you can just make sure you wear shirts with patterns and not solid colors. I would get whichever gun you like best and then adapt your carry methods.

I have carried my PM45 and my P30 with the same success.

The P30 has interchangeable blackstrap and grip sides to custom fit it to your hand. It is a little long though.

Omega Man is right on. Now you need to figure if you want a LEM or DA/SA or if you are going cocked and locked. Otherwise my P2000 trumps my HK USP compact overall. That is another story.

Hello,
I posted my thoughts on the USPC 9mm on this thread. I need to update it but essentially reflects my opinion of the gun. There are some other reviews out there if you look around, but not many.

Anything produced by HK is typically reliable, well made, accurate, and unfortunately expensive.

Good Luck in your choice.

Owned all three. The USPc brings nothing to the table compared to the other two. The P30 is by far my favorite HK pistol. With a little sandpaper you can carry it IWB all day long.

I see your located in GA. Go to bullseye range in down town Lawrenceville they have a P30 for rental. I've rented it befor when I was thinking of getting one. It does not have the safety levers, but has the decocker and is da/sa.

I'm a big fan of the P2000 SK (subcompact). It's a sweet shooter and very concealable.

Never owned a regular USP. But I have owned a USPc .45 and a P-2000. I currently own a P-30 that I can carry quite easily AIWB. I can also carry my Beretta 92G this way too. I am rather tall and lean. Of the HK's I have tried the P-30 is the best for me.

Great info guys! I really appreciate it. I am unsure of how the P30 Variants work. I know that if I got the USP I was wanting to get a Variant 1. Safety, DA/SA.

So if you want safety and SA/DA then you are looking for P30S V3.

Would recommend the P30LS over a USP. The P30LS is what happens when a fat chunky girl (read USP) hits the gym and comes out a toned curvaceous hottie with easily changeable breast sizes!

On a more serious note, the P30 is an ergonomic and reliable handgun that can be tailored to fit the users individual grip. With the USP you either love the two by four grip or not. Either can be easily carried. Just chose a high quality holster and dress around the gun. For thin guys, you may want to try Appendix IWB carry, as it makes concealing a duty size handgun very easy.

Hi all, so i'm trying to decide on a new H&K 9mm. My choices are the P30, USPc and P2000. I will be carrying IWB at 4:00. I do realize the major differences between these models.

I am really leaning towards the USPc but have been unable to find one locally to shoot. Is the grip long enough to get a 3 finger grip on? I have heard that the frame is the same as the full size.

Just trying to get some suggestions before I spend the money.

Here's the best advice you're gonna get on the matter, go rent them at a range, and decide from there!

I agree.

The P2000 is going to be very very similar dimensionally to the Glock 19. You can get a pretty good grip on both, but not what I would consider a full, complete grip like you can with a P30 or full-size Glock.

If you've been comfortable wearing the M&P45 and Glock 21, then I don't foresee you having any issue at all with the P30, and you'll get a better grip than you would with the USPc or P2000.

I agree with those who have suggested renting and trying the different models you are thinking about. You also need to try out LEM vs. DA/SA.

That being said, my suggestion would be the P2000. I have one in .40 S&W. While thats not the exact model you're thinking about, its the same size. The P2000 has a shorter grip than the P30, but it should be long enough for a full handed grip. If you can manage a G19 grip, you should be able to handle the P2000. Its size makes it easy to fill CCW and a dedicated range/training gun.

When you try the LEM, make sure you put at least 10 or so mags through it to give it a fair shake.

I have a P2000, P30 and P2000sk.

I love the P30, but i think the P2000 is one of my favorite handguns ever and it will always be my if I could only have 1 gun fantasy because it is sooooo good at everything.

Shoots nice, I owned it side by side with a G23 and sig P229 DAK. Its the most concealable of the three, it has great lines. You can rock flat floor plates for carry and finger tip ones for comfort. It also takes 15/13 rounds P30 mags and I think x grip might come out with a fitting piece (or what ever its called)

If you want it for carry, get a P2000..its sweet. I actually prefer it in 40 because 13/12 is a wash for me.

oh, and I love LEM. Its not the most prolific speed and accuracy system available, but I love the simplicity of it and its makes for a great carry trigger in the V4/V1 space depending what you are comfortable with I go vTGS!

Great info guys! I really appreciate it. I am unsure of how the P30 Variants work. I know that if I got the USP I was wanting to get a Variant 1. Safety, DA/SA.

As someone already mentioned, that would be the P30S V3. I have one and I carry it daily, and can conceal it with a loose t-shirt...and I'm 5'9" and 140lbs. Would the P2000 be easier to conceal? Yes, and I looked at it, along with the USPc when I was looking for a CCW, and went with the P30. Slightly bigger, but more ergonomic, holds 2 more rounds, and I was able to conceal it and a spare mag with little/no problems. I carry mine almost the same as in the picture munch520 posted. You should be fine with any of these so long as you have a good belt and holster.

Hope that helps!
