I might be swapping both of my rifles pistol grips to MIADs, and decided that since my UBR stocks can hold CR123As, the most useful core for the grip would be to hold spare parts/tools. One of my uppers is CMMG, the other is Bushmaster (gasp!)
I am considering getting one core with a spare bolt and firing pin, and putting a Samson field survivor in the other grip. Does anyone use this in a magpul grip? I have one in my A2 grip now and its useful.
So what bolts and firing pins would ya'll recommend? Is there a place where I can get all of this? (I assume Brownells)
Thanks

I do not recommend the magpul spare bolt and pin insert. Mine fell out time after time and finally broke. If you want the spare bolt and pin, just wrap it in a cleaning cloth and rubber band and carry that in the grip.

No experience with the Samson though

BCM and LMT both make excellent bolts. BCM is a site sponsor and given their outstanding dedication to quality, I'd trust their firing pins too.

BCM or LMT, Colt if you want to grab the whole BCG assy, I can't find anywhere selling the bolt by itself. If anyone knows any places selling the Colt bolts, then by all means share with the class, I'd like to grab a couple.

can anyone post a link to a reputable store with all four items in stock? samson field survivor, MIAD core, quality bolt, and firing pin. brownells and midway are out of good bolts and firing pins, and bcm is out of their own too.
thanks guys, i appreciate this.

LMT bolt is available here (http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=L7A3B&reference=/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi%3Fsearch%3Daction%26keywords%3Dbolt%20%26searchstart%3D0%26template%3DPDGCommTemplates/FullNav/SearchResult.html).

LMT firing pin is here (http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=LMP114&reference=/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi%3Fsearch%3Daction%26keywords%3Dfiring%20pin%26searchstart%3D0%26template%3DPDGCommTemplates/FullNav/SearchResult.html).

Samson is here (http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=1718).

MIAD core is here (http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=204).

2 shops is the best I could do, Rainier doesn't have LMT bolts. Hope this helps.

ETA: Ask Rainier for military discount, I can't remember if G&R offers one. My brain bucket got rattled one too many times seems like...

I carry CR123 bats inside my MOE grips on my rifles. The lone MIAD that I have is on my MWS and that has a DR2382 bat for the NF scope. The 3 round grip core was swapped out and put in another AR as it is for 223 not 308. I wish MP would sell the 3 round cores.

BCM bolt assemblies haven't been available for quite some time, over a year. They have just taken cam pins, firing pins, and firing pin retaining pins off from their website. I can only guess that they need the parts to keep building complete bolt carrier groups for sale.

go with the bolt+fp. wrap it in a rag as was already suggested and duct tape the F out of it!

this has always worked for me.
