Hey Guys,

I have a Colt BCG and I was thinking of replacing ONLY the bolt with the KAC E3 from the SR15 - NOT replacing the Colt BCG with the KAC SR15 BCG. Or replacing the bolt with an LMT Enhanced. Will this replacement of only the bolt work?

e3 bolt is not compatible with a standard AR15 barrel extension.

Of your choices, only the LMT will work.

Thanks for the help. Would you happen to know what the LMT is coated with?Chrome?

I have no first hand knowledge, so I can't say accurately. My internet sucks at my house otherwise I'd look at their website to give a better answer.

You could always check their website, you know, do a little digging for it.

I did and this is what they have "5.56 enhanced bolt assembly. Our enhanced bolts have a more resilient coating and stronger heat treat, as well as the cartridge case being fully supported by the bolt face"

They say it's more "resilient", I have know idea what they mean.

I'd read these threads before you consider buying the enhanced bolt carrier. In all honesty, there really isn't a reason to replace the Colt bolt with the LMT Enhanced Bolt in terms of functionality or improving reliability.

I for one dont see why you would wanna do this. The colt bolt is one of the best made. If you change to the LMT ill take the colt of ya hands. In all honesty dont waste your money doing something unnecessary. I'd buy ammo or something

As fine a product as Knight's makes, what specifically is your reason for wanting to do this?

I believe it's diagnosed as "LCSS". Let's Change Something Syndrome. A combination contributed by the Stoner designed modular platform allowing relatively easy replacement of parts when necessary and the inevitable ability of some human beings to mess with something when it's unnecessary. Sometimes it's cured by prolonged sessions in therapy. Most often it is cured by a swift kick in the nuts.

I would have to agree. the colt I have has chewed through7-8 thousand rounds and I wouldn't think of changing it unless a lug broke or something. This would be a lot more relative of a question if your bolt was broke. then I would say replace it, but as it is I wouldn't
