People criticise these fo the bore-height-over-hand issue, but this is the most naturally-pointing pistol I've ever owned: I just raise my hand and the sights are aligned on taget. I also have a Compact on 9mm I love.

Great Post thank you .

I have been very happy with My USP 45 compact it has become My favorite handgun I have every carried .
Never had a problem with the Height of the sights

The sight height is not the issue, it's the height of the bore axis over the palm of the hand: this is a factor in muzzle flip.

Very cool! I would like to see the "How It's Made" tv show at the HK factory.

Even still, my USP .40 handles the recoil and muzzle flip better than most any other .40 I've shot. Thanks for the pic. Simply awesome. Love the USP!!

Very neat, thanks Wes.

I agree, would love to see a 'how it's made' or some kind of factory tour video put out by HK.

I (surprisingly)found that out with my P30 as well. I randomly pick it up, point at something, and the sights are just aligned perfectly. That has never happened with me, not even with 1911s.

Good post and pics, especially that precious DT USP in the end! ;)

The whole "Higher bore axis" thing is a non-issue---every HK USP/USPc/P2000/P30/45C that I've shot are some of the least recoiling pistols out there---muzzle flip is about the same as most pistols. And yes, I do own all of the above. Time to put the bore axis thing to sleep!

here i am at a match this past weekend fighting that dreaded hk muzzle flip. it took every iota of my strength to keep it from smacking me in the forehead after every shot.

Best production handguns made. . . hands down.

Heck, accuracy of the USP Tactical 45 (and others) is on par with a several thousand dollar accurized 1911. . . and as I said: It's a production gun!

My exact quote:

"People criticise these fo the bore-height-over-hand issue".

"People", not "me". ;)

This has been my experience as well. My first was a Black USP Fullsize. It chewed ragged holes into the taget center. Really amazing accuracy, right out of the box. So I lusted after the Tan guy I posted pics of. It's just as accurate. I had my 'smith put on the adusjtable rear sight to take advantage of that. Then...well, kind of a madness set in...

So would Taurus, Ruger, Kel-Tec, etc...

Not like it would matter. They already know how to make a better product, but if they did what it takes then their prices would go up or their profit would go down. They sell to a certain section of the market and are as good as they have to be for it.

I feel you. Have exactly some problem with my P30L. I'm glad I did not get DQ for my muzzle going back to look past safety angle, you know :dirol:
