View Full Version : Colt 6720, FSB / Sight Post Question
I really like the Colt 6720's and have been searching and reading all that I can here. I understand that Colt does not put a "F" marked FSB on them and compensates for this with a higher front sight post. Has anyone ever experienced that this can be a problem in that the higher front post can stick up so high as to almost extend taller then the flared ears on the FSB designed to protect it ?
And........does anyone know the actual reason that Colt does not have a "F" marked style FSB for their pencil barreled flat top rifles ?
The post is fully protected, looks normal, and IMHO the non F FSB is not a problem at all.
The 6720 barrel assembly is the same as used on the 6520. Colt just added a flat top receiver to create the 6720. Colt used what they already had in production since there was not downside to mating the parts together.
Thanks for the info. Do you see any sighting problems that could exist if you were to use a "A3 handle with its rear sights" attached to a 6720 ?
Hopefully someone can verify this but I'm pretty sure the FSB comes with a proper height post to work with Mil-spec height rear sights. A commercial height rear sight would require a new front post. Not a big deal either way.
A search turned up this thread, https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=85670 .
It works fine with the A3 carry handle sight.
I ordered mine from Clyde Armory with the carry handle, and it works fine.

Thanks for the link to that search. I had already read it in my searching but just needed more info, especially about the A3 carry handle co witness.
My brother got a 6720 from Grant about two or three months ago and it does not have a "F" height front sight base or the taller front sight post.
We have not sighted it in yet, so we don't know how it will zero.
Grant said that the 6720s he has personally checked had the taller front sight post. So, maybe the one my brother got was a one-off collector model. :D
