I'm about to get my first flat top AR and looking for advice on front sight options. Considering a flip up or even a fixed type and came to the realization that the gas block isn't on the same plane as the receiver. What would you recommend as options for this application, and what would be a good compatible rear sight?

Thanks for any and all input...BEWW

I have the GG&G BUIS and they work fine. They align up just fine, you can always add a higher front sight post if needed.

Your options are limited as to what you can use on the gas block picitinny rail for sights.... What ever you do, don't put the Magpul or other plastic BUIS... They melt.
Sent from this... Using that...

Thanks for the reply and link NCMedic, those do look nice. I'd seen some from Troy Industries, seem to be around the same price range.

Go with the Troy, try doing a search on them, they are rock solid and the company takes good care of their customers. All of my folding sights are made by them.

====================================

There are two Front Sight heights - (Receiver) Rail height and Gas Block height. The railed gas blocks that I have seen lately have been Rail height.
If you get the wrong height, you won't be able to make up the difference with a different sight post.

Just wondering, what make rifle are you looking at getting?

But maybe it's just me...

What I'm looking at getting is basically a frankengun. LRB lower, BAFE A4 upper, single stage trigger (unknown), bolt carrier group (unknown), and a 16" .925 bull barrel (unknown) chambered for 5.56 w/ 1 in 9 twist. I will try to verify manufacturer of the unknown components when I receive the gun.

Has anyone tried or had any experience with the Midwest Industries ERS? They sell a package that's more affordable, I'm working with a limited budget.
