Just want to see who is getting out and about in the local area around Shreveport/Bossier shooting and training. I would like to try to get together with some of you (if any) and put some rounds down range. Post up here if you are interested in getting together. Cheers...Warren:D

Shreveport here... recently joined Long Range Alley gun club... I try to go at least once a week. You are welcome to come as my guest. The guest fee is $5 for the day. Its about 20 minutes from my house in south Shreveport. Nice place to shoot.

We were gonna meet up at a gun show a while back but I lost your number. Let me know if you want to get together. I could use a training partner to help add some structure to my range days. We could also do the M4C monthly competitions together :D

I would, but won't be there until June (planning on re-newing the membership to Long Range Alley). How often do ya'll get together and what practice do you prefer? Carbine only or pistol too?

Well so far we havent got together a single time. We are trying to get some numbers together so that we can gain more knowledge base and get a little consistency. I personally only own a Carbine, but I am in the market for a pistol, and very close to closing in on a shotgun. Are you military? or just out of town for a while and returning soon? ---Warren

EDIT: I say "we" but I am meaning I would like to

Just a little something I was messing with this weekend. It is just an old metal tool box I stripped down and painted. I think it turned out pretty good. I plan on taking it to the range and seeing if it will do the job...

That looks like it would make a nice ammo can. I've got a smaller "homegrown" can im working on for carrying loaded mags... still needs a handle though.

I am for sure going to the range this Wednesday, just lemme know what time you want to meet up. I was thinking we could hit the 100/200 yard range first to check our zeros then head to the assualt deck where there are steel targets to shoot at varying ranges from 100-480 yards. Ill have a pistol or two with me also for you to play with :D

That works perfect for me, I have to pick up a tux in Shreveport around 2:30 so that should give us plenty of trigger time. I just finished my first 9mm reloads :D Cant wait to test them out!

Ok, I know not many people troll this particular regional group but I feel obligated to make this post. Today, Evil Colt 6920 and myself met up at Long Range Alley Gun Club about 20 miles south of Shreveport. This was my first trip and I was impressed, the range was laid out well and accomadated nearly every type and form of shooter. With 14 seperate pistol/rifle ranges and an Assault deck, it had it all. I have been in town for about two years now and until recently had never heard a single word about this place. Kevin "Evil Colt" is a stand up guy, he even let me put about 100 rounds downrange with his Glock :D
...........Now to decide to join or not...........some pics below.

Here are a few drills that use the same amount of targets(3) with similiar orientation. The less time we spend setting up/moving targets around the more shooting we can do. Of course variety is good and we can move targets around but we might as well shoot a few different drills each time we have to setup.

2x2x2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVGPEgRZwIw&feature=plcp)
El Presidente (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OfsxKFh370&feature=plcp)
1 through 5 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaCpOt9xVy4&feature=plcp)
triple threat (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5K3FP6UqiT0&feature=plcp)

Anyone have anything add? Id like to have a good plan for our next range session so if anyone has suggestions/drills for making the best of our time your input is appreciated:D

So I have been debating on buying a Glock 17 from a buddy of mine, it's a first gen model. He told me he has put about 1500-2000 through it and installed a 3 lb trigger and it shoots like butter. I am gonna head to Bodcau range with him on Sunday to put my hands on it and depending on the overall shape I might make him an offer for it. He said he would let it go for about 500 with 5 mags some ammo, and a holster. You think that is a fair price? Let me know what you guys think? Fair price or rediculous?

EDIT: So I went and shot this thing and it ran like a champ! Still not certain what I am gonna do. Glock offers a pretty decent deal to Military and I might look in to the details.

I know a handfull of guys with AR's around here but most of them just bought them to sit in a safe apparently. There are some guys over on BayouShooter.com that shoot at LRA but I have yet to meet any of them. My dad is coming in town this weekend for fathers day, I might take him shooting on Sunday... care to join if we go? He hasnt been to LRA yet so hes wanting to check it out. I bought him a Margaritaville Frozen Concoction maker for fathers day... so we may be too hungover for the range:lol: We shall see :D

Well I am not too sure I can make it sunday. I will let you know for sure. I am willing to bet a sunday at the range is about what---30% chance? If I just got a sweet machine like that I would take it for a test drive to work out any kinks. I will let you know for sure...Oh and I have been working on those reloads...might be able to shave some time next range trip. I will be in Florida from 20-28 Enjoy your weekend if we dont shoot.

Anyone ever deal with Cash-in-a-Flash on North Market? They are an authorized Glock dealer and offer up a military discount. I can take home a Gen 3 or 4 G17 for $429.00...I am slowly inching closer and closer to making a purchase...

They are good to go! Ive been in there several times. Bought trijicons for my glock there and they istalled them for free. Also bought a lower from them more recently. They are great people to deal with, very helpful. I even had a very stubborn time removing a FSB once... took it up there and he took it off for me free of charge. They stock a ton of AR stuff including small parts. I give them as much business as I can. Hell when you going up there? I may tag along:p

Not really sure when I will head up there. I did not know they carried all that they do. I REALLY want to get a pistol in the very near future, but once again I have to clear it with my wife...were you able to make it out to the range? My trigger needs some more breaking in:D

I am torn. I want to get a pistol, but I also want to close out my AR and get an Aimpoint PRO. I looked into the Vortex SPARC and it offers all types of bells and whistles, but it also had flaws I dont think I could deal with. I could just keep with my irons for a while longer, but whats the fun in that? Decisions, decisions.....

What do you think about this as a range tool? Pretty neat little target to train with?????

Message me on here sometime when you are planning on heading over. Speaking of Monroe, I have some family coming into town and they want to see "Duck Dynasty" stuff. Is that a possible thing in West Monroe? Do they even do anything publicly?

Long Range Alley has about 14 different "stalls" ranging anywhere from 50-200 yards...I think. They also have an area with what looks to be anywhere from 500-1000 yds. Don't quote me on that, I'm not certain.

They have public showings on occasion, come out to the ULM football games, etc. but as far as seeing where the show is shot, that would probably be hard to do. I think the house and everything you see on the show is a stage house, not their actual house that they live in and lived in before the show.
