What Bobro mount to get

Thinking about getting a bobro mount for one of my ar's
not sure of what one to get.

The scope is a millett trs-1

Do you shoot with your nose touching the charging handle or do you back off a bit? Related to this is your stock setup...A2, collapsible one position out, two positions out, etc.

Nose does not touch the charging handle but perhaps i should make it a point to start doing that so to be in the same place all the time?

I'm currently finding it hard at times to get a full clear sight picture while sitting down with it at a bench

currently has the a2 stock but will be getting the magpul prs stock at some time

Your scope is almost certainly positioned too far to the rear and whatever mount that is looks pretty high. A good starting point (and often ending point) for rifle length stocks such as the A2 and PRS is to position the ocular lens dead even with or just forward of the charging handle.

Before you buy anything, push that mount one more slot forward (I think there's another slot left from the picture), and slide the scope forward in the rings as far as you can. Basically try to get the rear end of the scope as forward as you can and give it a shot. If you like how it feels, a forward extended mount may be in order.

For reference sake, this is what the "slightly forward" Bobro gives you with a SS 3-9. Gave it a shot, but I like the extended.

ETA / PS. Nose To Charging Handle (NTCH) is a good method to keep things consistent. And that's what it is, simply a tool to put the eye in the same place every time. If you can do that consistently from another position, then you're just as well off.

Something else to consider - I have found that when shooting prone, I need to extend the stock another notch or two to maintain the same eye position behind the scope. I'd recommend that when mounting the scope, use the least amount of stock extension that you would normally use to determine where the scope should be positioned (if you wear armor, you will need to factor this in as well).

I always used the extended mounts (like the one linked to above) and never had an issue. Also, the extended mount helps to keep the scope turrets centered between the rings.

I prefer NTCH, so YMMV.

I have been very happy with the Bobro 30mm E with a NF 3.5-15X50 MLR Zero Stop. It is a very well made mount and I really like the locking system on it. It holds zero well with no shift when remounting it. I have run it on a variety of guns from a OBR, MWS and 18" Stealth all with great results. When the new MK6 hit I will be adding a couple more of them. I have always been a Larue guy but IMHO Bobro has done outstanding job on this mount.

I agree, Bobro is 100% top shelf. The only point (if it even matters) that I think LaRue holds an edge is the fact that their levers can be opened with a single hand, where the Bobro requires one finger to depress the unlocking tab and another to operate the lever (I could never master doing so with one hand).

BTW, a new Bobro mount being made for Trijicon that will supposedly be available very soon;

moved the mount and scope as far forward as possible
definitely better.still looks like it could be just a bit more forward and would like the scope centered in the mount.

so what I'm looking for is a mount that will let me go about 1/2inch more forward. as low as possible with out coming in contact with the hand guard with lens cover on and to have room for a troy battle sight under it and the scope centered in the mount

Yep, that's the one to get. It will clear the rear sight but probably be very close with a Butler Creek flip cover.
