View Full Version : 4300 FPS 460 Weatherby...
This guy is insane. He has loaded up a 100 grain aluminum bullet to a MV of 4300 FPS.

That's pretty cool from an academic standpoint. Is there any purported use for such a bullet?
That just sounds painfull on the shoulder.

My father in law does that 115g TSX out of his 300RUM I think he is silly but to each his own.
I shoot 4000fps with a 120gr lazerhead out of the 7.21 Firebird...takes a 30" tube and 99gr of powder. Accuracy is limited to 800-900 rounds but just a hoot for long range doe hunting.
The lazzeroni is a much more practical round...i don't get turning a perfectly good large bore cal into a fail.

Nope. Just for the hell of it. I bought a 460 in 1982 and shot it for several years. I loaned it to a friend who took it on safari several times, I subsequently gave him the rifle. I am presently in the market for another. I have very specific requirements. I want the traditional gaudy Weatherby shiny finish and California modern style stock, high polish blue finish, factory iron sights and a removable muzzle brake. And I don't want to pay $4K for it.
Here's (http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=286086512) a strange bird for you. A 460, right hand action in a left hand stock. The owner is having some trouble selling it.
