I always get a thrill out of stories like these. So much history out there just waiting for someone to trip over.

I'm glad they ID the plane and pilot, if he has family left maybe now they can have some closure after all these years.

Absolutely spectacular find, thanks for posting this. Only downside is, as already stated, the likely slow death of the pilot. This especially so after he was fortunate enough to have somehow survived the landing.
