This is a new Magpul-nordic 17 rd. mag extender with a new black 30rd. pmag already attached. I have very nicely stippled the front and back edges, I didn't do the sides because I feel it adds too much drag getting them in and out of mag pouches. Plenty of grip where you actually hold it though and the texture is about the same as grip tape. This is a very solid metal extender, nothing like the new plastic extenders. They were known for their reliability, durability and simplicity. These have become next to impossible to find anymore.
I have never loaded a round through this one but have inserted it into a rifle a couple of times.
