what size do you need? and is your version of discreet something that isn't going to freak out the neighbors, or something that makes it look like something it isn't?

natchez had some Eagle cases that are very nice http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=EYDCCAR15LEK&src=sim

Im not worried if my bag case would scare someone or not. I just like the looks better of the so called discreet bag like this one.
http://www.511tactical.com/All-Products/Bags-Backpacks/Gun-Cases/36-Gun-Case-AR15-M4.html
but the most important thing to me is how the bag is made.Thicker material/heavy duty zippers/padding. stuff like that.

so, what size do you need???

did you check my link? the Eagle cases are much more discreet than the 5.11, cost about 1/2, and are probably better built as well.

but again, what size do you need???

I want this one badly but it is really expensive for a soft case.

The 5.11s are discreet in context. If I'm just carrying that it looks like a keyboard case.

For the guys who wear camies, boots and all other types of of useless tactical shit... A tennis racet case isn't going to help you pass under the radar.

Color is another thing to take into consideration with trying to remain discreet. I have a plain black one.

Quality wize... It carries a lot of weight. Two rifles, up to 20 full mags plus more ammo, targets, staple gun and stapes. Tons of other stuff sometimes. It's held up very well. Still very firm and holds it shape.

I've started throwing most stuff in a backpack because that bag will weigh a ton.

At first I thought it cost to much. Now I think it was worth it.

We've discussed cases ad nauseum in numerous other threads. Hit the search button, search terms "discreet case" and others, and read.

And "premium quality" and "5.11" are mutually exclusive terms.

so you are now going to tell the OP what his needs are?

there are some people who don't go about dressed up like a power ranger and who would like something a little less obvious than the full molle and external pouches treatment.

I don't disagree about the 5.11 double cases, I have two - one 36" and one 42" but they are not discreet in any sense of the word except that they are not painted day-glo orange. loaded with two rifles, they are already heavy enough that I don't carry anything else in them and use a separate range bag

obviously you haven't seen the rifle cases we are talking about - they are very well made. I have two and they have held up to everything I have asked them to. I don't believe they are worth $180 but at half that they are a solid value.

I still find it astounding that people will pay $40 for a pouch or $100 for a simple chest rig from a "premium" maker yet have trouble paying that for a rifle case that uses 4 times the material with complex pockets, pouches, padding, internal molle suspension, etc...

Not too discrete but voodoo tactical makes some good heavy duty stuff may be worth checking out.

Generally not a 5.11 fan, but I've had their Rush 24 pack for a year and its friggin awesome. Their other bags and cases look to be of the same quality and high function.

5.11 is 5.11. They aren't unserviceable or incapable of meeting people's needs. I just wouldn't ever call them "premium quality."

(I have seen and used those cases, some were okay and some had various stitching and build quality issues.)

Your recommendation to hit Natchez for the Eagle cases is solid, especially if it's legacy EI gear.

No...
I wasn't telling him what his needs are. I don't think it reads like that. I was just discussing how it meets my needs. I apologize if it came across like that.

As for the camies comment, I also didn't say everyone does. It just always bothered be when I go to the range and see some guy in Marine Marpat camies in some nonuniform fashion. Not that hes wearing the camies but that if he is a Marine he knows dam well hes not supposed to be wearing those like that... Or at all.

Still looking and checking out all the ones that are being mentioned.

what about The Galati XT Premium Rifle Cases. tho not a discreet case it seems to be a very well made.anyone have or had one of them

The Galati XT Premium Rifle Cases are built Extra Tough and Extra Thick and are in a class above the competition. As the toughest soft case in the industry, no other soft rifle case even comes close to its durability and quality

Been very pleased by my two iShot/SERT TCC (http://mle-shootingsports.com/p312/TCC-36%22,-Tactical-Carbine/Rifle-Case/product_info.html?osCsid=lamopqcfj665927tvgejnqf466) cases. Good review on militarymorons here (http://www.militarymorons.com/weapons/ar.misc.html#sert).

I also concur that the Natchez deals on the Eagle cases are very good. The iShot/SERT TCC has more features that I've come to prefer though, especially the interior MOLLE panels.

Though I haven't tried one, I'm always tempted by the LaRue Covert Rifle Case (http://www.laruetactical.com/covert-rifle-case-mkII), which looks like a cool option if all you are hauling is ARs and you can break down your rifles. I also haul my AKs in my cases, so that's not an option for me.

no, I would never call 5.11 "premium" or "professional" grade either but more like "upper" level for those who don't need a $200 drag bag.

the two examples of the 5.11 rifle bags that I have show good construction with above average zippers. they should survive many years of typical use of the "average" user...

the eagle stuff I have seen available from Natchez is made in the DR but the A3 pack I have is holding up well...

Being a former skater I would use this bag. It's designed to hold boards, trucks, shoes, etc. but it will hold your AR as well. Made by Nike... so it would seem pretty discreet as an AR case.

The OP mentioned he had a rifle length AR. That would be @ 40" or so in length. If you don't want to break it down to a smaller size you can go with this. Made in the USA in Tacoma,WA.

They (CRT) make them in different lengths.

I have a fullsize BlackHawk discreet case which is excellent except there is nothing really discreet about it... and it attracts dog hair and carpet fibers like Pamela Anderson attracts venereal diseases:p

Its a bit cheaper than the 5.11 one.

Check out Voodoo Tactical. I have one in black. Will hold two rifles and two handguns and has MOLLE attachment points for magazine holders, as well as some small parts pockets. Cheaper than 5.11.

I hate Eagle gear for their crappy customer service, but Natchez's price make them impossible to pass up. I own two of the discreet cases and one of their rifle cases. All good stuff that you can't go wrong with at the prices Natchez are asking.

That said, beware of Eagle's customer service.

http://www.opticsplanet.net/storm-case-fieldpak-rifle-cases-soft-sided-bags-bag-only-black.html

I have one of these and love it. I keep a 20" BCM A4, another M4 with aimpoint mounted and a remington 870 all in this one bag. There is a thick padding divider in the middle. I keep the A4 and 870 on one side and the M4 and a few mags holders on the other. The internals are Molle so mounting options are endless and the soft case is designed to drop directly into a hardigg/pelican case to meet TSA requirements. Also the pic on the website is outdated the current models say armory much smaller.

Outside looks good...wonder why they don't show the insternals?

I have both the Maxpedition (Silver II) and the discreet from Eagle. Honestly I think the Max is put together better but it doesn't have internal pouches whereas the Eagle does.

The internals are basically four rows of Molle the length of the case. It has HK style hooks for the main strap, the rear of it also has a velcro flap for covering up the alt. back pack straps. Chris Costa does a section on the older version of this bag on the ATC I video. if anyone has anymore questions feel free to ask.
