View Full Version : Thank You Grip Force Adapter!

Those who know me well understand my displeasure with Glocks. They have not fit my hand and would religiously provide me with a bloody reminder of each range session in the form of slide bite. On duty I have no alternative to carrying a Glock and so I have forced myself to master them while at the same time cursing them.

Enter Grip Force Adapters. I never would have imagined one simple $30 device could make such a difference! I am no longer concerned about developing an involuntary flinch response to the weapons that may used to protect myself or others. The adapter also helps with the grip angle that I never liked and makes the weapon feel more natural for a shooter who was raised on 1911's, Hi-Powers, and Sigs.

In fact I recently bought two new G17's because I can now enjoy the family of weapons. You'll notice in the family photo that the 27 doesn't have a GFA. The baby Glocks have been the only ones that do not bite and fit my hand well (I believe because of the higher curve on the backstrap). My close friends were astounded that I bought 2 new Glocks.

I have no affiliation with the company - just wanted to share for the others who may suffer as I have.

Thanks to Rob_s for helping install the 10-8 sights.

I love them too, and for the same reason. The ONLY thing I didn't like about Glock is the bloody railroad tracks they leave on my hand. GFA fixed that, and now I'm 100% happy with my Glocks.

They had the new smooth one included with my recent order. Felt great but it's shorter and doesn't give me the same grip angle feel. Better than stock, but not the full length adapter for me.

Lol! I'm good with the ridges for now. Maybe one day I'll give that a try. Yours looks really good. Did you start with a dremel or something?

Yeah, Dremmel, then sandpaper, then masking tape, then finger.

I agree the GFA is an awesome product for preventing slide bite. I get slide bite on 9/40 fullsize framed Glocks. The only issue I've almost had with it is the plastic trigger group pin almost walked out on me during a class. Maybe I cut it to much IDK I just didn't want to feel the pins driving into my hands. Has anyone had this happen to them for the record it's a Gen 4 G17.

What did you do to the front of the grip on the baby Glock?

Did a search and this was the newest thread so I decided to post this here. Called Grip Force today and when I got the voice mail I just hung up and decided to call or email. While getting ready for work, saw a missed call from Grip Force. Called back and spoke with FRANK who was very nice and professional and answered my question completely. After getting to work, I ordered the WRONG adapter for a GEN 4 and not GEN 3. Called Frank again, (this is at 1943 CST) and he answered and fixed my screw up.
Just wanted to say GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE at Grip Force and thanks again Frank.

Wait...What? I thought all the Glock owners on M4C thought the grip angle was perfection, shooting nirvana, and that everyone who had an issue with the grip didn't know jack, and you just had to 'learn' how to shoot it. Now folks are altering the grip with the GripForce, because (wait for it), you don't like the grip and this device makes it more comfortable??? The horror!!!

If this device would have been out back in the day when I owned a G23 (for over a decade), I probably wouldn't have traded it in (and all my other pistols at the time) for the M&P line.

I have only played with a GF Adapter that I just pressed on and it felt good. I have just recenly got a G17 and since I only have 19's. I thought this might be a good addition to the gun. I will keep y'all posted when I get it installed. I just wanted let people know what good customer service GFA provided.
The most handgun PERFECTION is the one that you shoot ACCURATE, most of all, and FAST and anything that helps you do this, other than lots of trigger time, should be fair. Ofcourse this is something that most of the M4C'ers have reinforced may times over and I appreciate the information I have gleaned from here.

While initially a bit skeptical, I have added Grip Force Adaptors (http://gripforceproducts.com) to my Glocks and am truly impressed by the benefits they offer, as noted by others above.

As a long time 1911 shooter, when I press out a stock Glock, particularly the G17/G22, I typically find the front sight sitting too high and have to consciously cock my wrist down. The GFA slightly changes the Glock grip angle, resulting in a perfect natural sight alignment when I press the pistol out. The GFA beavertail helps to ensure a more positive grip when aggressively drawing the pistol. It also provides more leverage which seems to help control the pistol during recoil on fast shot strings. The timer indicates I am having both a faster draw and quicker splits when I use a GFA equipped Glock. The web of my shooting hand occasionally gets bitten by a stock Glock slide--especially during high round count training sessions; the GFA beavertail seems to eliminate this possibility.

Installation is quite simple and takes about 60 seconds if done without mods. I have modified all my GFA's. On the G17, I reduce the ridges on the underside of the beavertail using a Dremel tool. With the G19, using the 1st gen GFA, I do the same ridge reduction, but also cut the grip portion in half. All the 3rd gen Glocks I use have been stippled, so the GFA's on those pistols also got stippled.

I like the new 2nd gen GFA's for G19's--esp on RTF2's. For G17's I like the slightly longer extension down the grip of the 1st gen, however the smooth beavertail and closer fit to grip of the 2nd gen are very appealing.

Note: With all my GFA's of both generations, I reduce the ridges on the underside of the GFA where it fits against the pistol backstrap so the device fits more flush against the grip.

Yep. This one little piece allows the same results for me as it has for Doc. Jason Falla was using one at the last class I took from him and handling his pistol has resulted in me to consider a Glock again.

So here is my update and a couple of pics. The GFA is very comfortable and lets me put a little less finger in the trigger guard. It was easy to install and goes good with the stippleing one the guys I work with is doing. I would reccommend the GFA if this is any issue you are having with good grip placement. It works for ME.
And, as I said before, customer service was exceptional.

I found the GFA to be quite beneficial, but I don't particularly like the added portion of the grip. I need the beaver tail to keep slide bite from getting me and nothing else. So, I've started cutting the top third or so off and then Devcon putty-ing them onto my Glocks. With some time and patience, they can be blended into the frame pretty nicely, but I don't care a whole lot about how my Glocks look, so I haven't spent that much time or effort just yet. Doing them that way is a quick and easy (and cheap) solution to my slide bite issues, since it seems that Glock Inc. doesn't plan to ever get the back straps across the pond.

I've seen one in person and it's nice, but it doesn't help with the pre-Gen 4 guns. I know of two full time LE instructors who were given them to T&E. Not sure what, if any, fielding date they are looking at...

I ordered one along with some LAV parts from Net Tac a few days ago. I'm really excited to try it out. I've only gotten bitten once by mine, but I do struggle a lot with the angle, it feels awkward as hell in my hands so hopefully this works for me. If not, $30 is still worth the shot.

Never got slide bite with my Glocks, but it makes my G17 shoot almost as well as my M&P 9 Pro now. There's much less grouping to the left now. I roll with the Gen 2 smooth version. Ended up having to file the pin down on one side since it tended to stick out on the left from gripping the gun right handed.

Wish I'd known about it sooner...I might not have dumped my G34 and G23. (Well, still might have dumped the G34...no matter what, it was never going to be as natural as the M&P, and I managed to sell the idea to my wife that if I dumped the G34, I could pick up a SCAR-17 since it's a no net gain in weapon inventory. Decent trade in my book.)

Holy shit. May honestly be the best $25 I've ever spent.

I just got mine last night.

I have a Gen 4 and installed the ridged version, as it is the only one 'for' the Gen 4 me thinks. However, will the smooth (Gen 1-3) fit if I shave some off of the top extension in front of the beavertail which butts up to the frame???

My initial impression is that:

1. The gun does NOT feel as good in the hand with it installed.
2. It surely points better, and the extra distance to trigger MAY be somewhat beneficial (yet to see in shooting).
3. It seems to eliminate slide bite from what i can see. It's too bad. My left hand gets NO bite. My right hand is fatter, and a high grip puts me in the bite category most of the time I purchase the weapon.

We'll see how it goes at the range - if it saves me from slide bite AND helps in shooting, it is a major 'go'.

Time to follow up after several hundred rounds through with the Gen 4 G19.

1. It is actually making the gun feel good in my hand. You sacrifice some trigger reach (you are adding it of course), but it is actually a tad less than a Gen 3 without the GFA. So, unless you have short fingers, this is a good thing. It sets up the angle like a 1911.

2. The ridges on the Gen 4 version actually help a tad in grabbing the web and keeping the lateral movement to nothing - not bad, because sometimes in grabbing a Gen 3 Glock my hand can slip laterally.

3. It really starts to make the Glock feel quite good, while really benefiting your shooting hands position and recoil management. It is almost 'therapeutic'. I know people complain about Glocks, but some of the blockiness makes the gun sit very firmly in the hand - especially with the GFA. It wedges my hand perfectly between the beavertail and the hump bottom.

I will say that with gloves it gets a little tight - I also wish the Glock trigger guard was a bit larger anyway. With bare hands or slim gloves the GFA is tops. Hats off to the folks there for a quality product which is designed right.

BTW - I would install it permanently, unless I was not thinking of handing it down to one of my sons eventually. If you don't go permanent, you have to reinstall anytime you detail strip the weapon.

I recieved my GFA set on Friday. I had the smooth one installed first, but then tried the ridges and liked it better. I still need to shoot with it and see how it helps/hinders there. It does help with indexing my G30f on the draw, and that was the main reason I purchased it.
We'll see.

I've had a G19 for years and never a problem, but needed something for my new G30 because it is so small. When I bought the GFA, it came with one free, so now both my Glocks have a beavertail and I like them a lot. Good value for the money.

I've been happy with mine during my dry fire practice. We'll see how I do on the range.
