I want to get the barrel on my 6920 cut to 14.5" and crowned.Does anyone have a good smith they could recommend to me?

I had thought about buying a new Colt M4 6921 barrel but they're $495(w/front sight assembly) from Specialized Armament.

I'd go with AR15barrels.com. Randall is an excellent guy to have work on your AR. I've had two uppers sent in now, and I've been more than happy each time.:D

Plus, IIRC, his prices are much lower than ADCO's. He is also in the business of making barrels, so I'm sure he knows 110% what he's doing.

Nice to step up (or down rather) to the 14.5in. Once you go 14.5, 16 plus FH feels way too long.

I would be cautious with Randall I know he was having issues on TOS about not returning money to people who have paid for services not rendered.

ADCO pays particular attention to the crown and also to ensure the threads are concentric to the bore.

And smart money says you'd probably have the barrel back the same work week.

I do not have much to say about Randall, never had work done by him. But I have seen the numberous reports of people asking for refunds are their work orders to be filled...

I think I'll go with ADCO.
For one their closer to me,big +,and they have contact info with a phone # to be able to get ahold of.

I'm almost positive the answer is no but I'll ask just in case.Better safe than sorry.
Do you think my gasport will need to be enlarged any because I'm hacking off 1.5" of barrel?

I sent mine to Wilson Combat at the end of November to have it cut to 14.7 and the bird cage pinned. "You'll have it before Christmas" they said. Still not here...

I'm thinking of having my Armalite m4 cut down to 14.7 and having the A2 flashider pinned. Will I lose much velocity? Does cuting and recrowning work ok on Chrome-lined barrel?
Thanks!

LMT chopped some of their 14.5's to 12.5" for us, prior to shipping, just past the 203 cut. No gas port mod was done & they ran great on Mil ammo. By far my favorite length.

I'd love to get one of those. I want to do a shorty, but 10.5 is just silly too short for me.

You wouldn't happen to have any pics of that, would you?
