Gun has been great so far, same with the axe. I do love a good 10mm 1911! This 10 was tested quite a bit before leaving the SACS. Judging by the wear on the finish on the barrel hood, I'd guess they shot it close to 500 rounds before sending to me.

Here is Ang Baboy (the hog in Filipino), my go to working gun. 9mm cause its cheap and plentiful in these parts, box stock except for the grips which are cut down Pachmayr "grippers".
http://s11.postimage.org/jyolgw52r/DSC_0001_2.jpg
With a little patience and a lot of gun lube this sucker can be compelled to eat any 9mm ammunition, even enjoying NATO overpressure loads. Armscore (Rock Island in the states) forges their slides now and the increase in quality is evident.
I think you mean they forge their frames now. That was announced in 2012. They've always had forged slides.

Dear god... I want that gun... I am working on building a Rock Island GI up to similar specs. I am going to go with a Nowlin match barrel and Harrison RETRO sights though... not enough money to get Novak/Heinie cuts put in... yet. :(
ETA: To clarify I understand that the barrel is pricier than new sights but the direct effect on accuracy of a match barrel vs the effect dovetail sights (as opposed to high profile sights in GI cuts) is far more substantial.

Talk about great timing. I just bought the same Wiley as you. I installed a 10-8 straight trigger and VZ's on the way. I have to swap out the slim bushings for standard for the grips but no big deal. My question for you is what safety did you install (use). I have never fit one and want to install an oversize. The finish on yours looks great. What trigger did you use as the only ones I have seen are curved black.
Clapp has a wilson bullet proof tactical safety.
I don't remember what safety is in the springer.
All my keeper 1911's have long solid nighthawk triggers

First, please forgive the poor picture. Just picked up my first 1911 today from my FFL. Purchased from a M4C member, so thought it would only be right to re-share it under new ownership. :p
Excited to start my descent down the 1911 rabbit hole. Plan to put a lot of rounds through it before changing anything, but when the time comes the first thing to be swapped will be the adjustable rear sight.

Funny you ask because I've spent the last week trying to figure out what's been done to it. I just bought it; it was advertised as a TRP which it's not even though its got Tactical stamped on the rail. According to customer service at SA it left the factory as an OD green frame MC Operator and has never been back so someone else stamped it,checkered the front strap, and installed the magwell, etc. Apparently the original owner was a Round Rock, Tx Swat guy which is interesting because my gun looks just like that Long Beach Operator.

Hmmm interesting, if you find out let us know.
I sent an email to the commander of the patrol division at Round Rock who put me in touch with one of their SWAT guys that knew all about my pistol. It was one of 25 custom guns ordered from Springfield for the SWAT team and came from the factory pretty much as you see it in the picture. MC Operator Slide, railed receiver with the "Tactical" stamp, checkered front strap, national match barrel. The rear sights and grips appeared to have been changed out. The guns were originally configured with Heine Straight Eights or 10-8 sights and G-10 grips. Mine has a plain Novak-style rear sight and generic wood grips.
Here's another couple of pictures:

The only thing I'd change on the stunning combat precision build is the Imbel brazil frame. Sort of like building an Indy car on a yugo frame. Yes it looks great and runs but...

While I agree with you Cavdoc, if you look at builds in this thread from Chuck Rogers and John Harisson etc.. You will see they have used Springfield imbel marked frames as well. Moral is a good base is still a good base but I personally wouldn't spend $3000 plus on top custom gunsmith work on a Imbel marked springer frame.

lol, not sure I'd that extreme.......I see your point for sure. However I have come across more than one that was marked brazil and was better fit than ones that were not.
Thank you for the kind words. Means a lot when people enjoy all the effort that goes into the builds.

There is something going on in that pic that I do not understand.
The barrel and guide rod are at a very odd angle to the slide and frame?

Looks to me like it may be a frame taken from a video, thus the distortion.

Digital cameras don't capture the whole picture at once. In the process of scanning it in, the pistol has moved.
Tr,
Thanks!!!!
Makes perfect sense now that I think about it.
Also explains the sometimes displaced muzzle signature
with pics of low light firing.
Interesting that the only things in the pic that are weird is the barrel and guide rod... Just saying.. Ron
Microsmic chronological coincidence?

The whole slide looks bent, it happens in rifle pics as well, the buffer tube and upper look bent, just has to do with the camera angle, speed of the camera, and action taking place, nothing new.
Looks to me like it may be a frame taken from a video, thus the distortion.
Ding ding ding.
It's a still from a video a friend shot during my first trip to the range with my TRP last October.

Both share basically the same blend of EB internal parts with Harrison long triggers, and EGW thick bushings.
The LW XSE has a nowlin barrel while the 1991 has a briley barrel.
Both are black cerakoted although the XSE came out a bit more textured.
Ed Vanden Berg did all the work.

I had this Springfield done with some things that I prefer. Kind of a sleeper. Original small tabbed thumb safety, slightly lowered ejection port, fitted match bushing, original steel trigger, Kings Hardball rear sight, etc, etc.
Shown with it are my grandfather's USMC steel, Marbles match container and old Zippo.

Yep, it's pinned, and it's very comfortable.
Here's an old Photoshop I did to see what a 1911 would look like with an RMR milled in, we have some Colt Govt slides around from the 90's that are cut for the old Optima MRDS's, but they don't do much good compared to the RMR's, obviously.

How's that shoot in comparison to a Gold Cup?
As a devout Colt fan, I hate to say it, but I would take the Trophy Match over the Gold Cup any day. The only 1911's I like with Pachmayr grips are MEUSOC clones, and I prefer the aggressive checkering on the front strap of the Trophy Match.
With that all being said, I'd definitely take a SCG over the Trophy.
