Okay, just ran across this (http://www.topsknives.com/product_info.php?products_id=389) on TOPS website. A picatinny compatible knife mount called the WOLFHAWK TP. What's this indicative of nowadays?

Call me when there is a way for me to mount my travel mug and cell phone to my rail. :D
I've already got a bayonet mount and if I cared enough to use it I could buy a bayonet for ~$25.

I will say that I'm surprised it isn't some dayglow green zombie themed knife.

I don't think it's THAT bad of an idea, personally.

For an HD weapon, I see no problem with wanting to have a blade right there when you grab your carbine in the middle of the night in your boxers.

Most people don't train with knives enough for it to make sense for them, but for guys that do train edged weapons hard, why not?

Some guys want to run 60 round magazines, ready-mags, 2 flashlights, 3 optics, etc... a small fixed blade? It might be more real world than half of the crap we see bolted on AR's all the time.

If you're gonna do that, might as well rail mount a Safariland ALS holster with a Glock 26! :D

Both a knife and a gun are considered to be lethal force. If a situation occurs where a knife is deemed to be reasonable force, then you have let the enemy get too close. I see your point on how some individuals have multiple optics and flashlights, but we should be reducing the crap we throw on our weapons, not adding more crap like this that only serves a purpose if you make a stupid mistake. If a hostile gets close enough for you to stab him, then he is close enough for you to muzzle strike him, back off, and shoot him! A bullet will incapacitate an aggressor much faster than a knife will.

I think this was an attempt (poor) to have a secondary weapon at hand in case of a weapon malfunction that couldn't be cleared before being overrun. The obvious corrective action would be to go from a primary to a secondary weapon. If your secondary weapon is a knife, you're not carrying enough guns! :D

Looks like a convenient way to carry your knife to a gunfight.

This is a great idea for home defense weapons of low quality.

People will buy this...the same ones that will make a simple carbine weigh 12 lbs with all the junk they stick to it. :(

Yes indeed.

A tactical fleshlight with a compartment for extra lube would be ideal.

You're probably right that, that was the poster's intention. I was thinking more about the knife's use for weapon retention, a role that would be better filled by simply throwing a folder on the waistband of your unmentionables (Or better yet grabbing an actual sidearm).

I am fairly certain that most ban states don't define the term bayonet lug explicitly and Connecticut if I recall (Just saying that state as it is the state whose wording I remember best) actually uses the term bayonet mount. As such a law enforcement officer would be well within his right to arrest you if the Attorney General for *insert ban state* ruled that it met the legal definition of a bayonet lug in that state. While you might win your argument that it isn't a "true" bayonet lug (doubtful), you would still be out thousands of dollars and months, if not years, of your life.

I'd rather have the Tactical Beer Shingle (http://www.tacticalgrilling.com/shop/tactical-beer-shingle) MOLLE compatible.

The mall ninja types would love to actually be able to *bang* their AR. That would seal the deal that they'll NEVER move out of their mom's basement.

When we've reached the point of talking about pocket pussies we've reached the end of the thread.
